YHS is a wonderful school. This entire school district is top notch. As a parent of 3 in elementary, middle & the high school- I have been very happy in my son's success at YHS. The high school years can be a difficult time. I have found great support from the counselors, teachers, department heads and the Principal at York. My child is one of the quiet ones & didn't always fit in. Internet access to grades & quick response from staff is a great help.

I am a current student at York. The honors teachers are extremely helpful--everything is there, it's up to the individual to overcome the obstacles set by the administration + parents.

I am a former student and I could not have asked for a better education. I have moved around quite a bit and this is by far the best school that I attended. The classes that are offered are unusual and very career specific which offers all students a glimpse of some future possibilities. The honors program is wonderful. The teachers and administratiors are innovative, inspiring, and very intelligent. I am and in college and I am doing very well. I accredit my success to York High School. If you are looking for a wonderful, advanced, and inspiring school, then York is for you!

York is one of the finest high schools in the entire country. This is due to the fact that not only are the teachers and administrators great, but so are the students and parents. Great school!

York Community High School is the last of many great school's in district 205 that allow so many to advance onward to college. This new and renevated 60 million dollar project has allowed very gifted teachers to use vast amounts of technology to convey knowledge quicker and better. Students have more fun while they are at the same time preparing for colledge. York has a great art, music, and advanced placement department as well as acceptional normal classes. A college and career center helps guide students after they graduate giving them access to college databases and organising colledge visits. This is one of the best public high schools in the country!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Illinois used the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) to test students in grade 11 in reading, math and science. The PSAE is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
