I am becoming a bit skeptical of this "Christian" school. Politics and favoritism play a key role here and I'm being rubbed the wrong way on how they handle certain people. I began to see this political type behavior surface about three months ago. Then I thought, maybe it's just me. Well, now even my husband has witnessed it and is not very pleased. He is the laid back person that ALWAYS blows situations off as if it's nothing but not this time. I don't want to give too many details just yet but will surely update depending on the outcome of everything we're going through. PARENTS - Keep your eyes, and heart open here. Ask God for guidance and wisdom. PRAY and watch the signs. I am not saying keep your child from being enrolled as there are some benefits academically, but spirituality is number 1 for me. We can get great academics elsewhere. Another parent warned me of this type of behavior and treatment but I did not want to believe it. I am crushed! I was really looking forward to a Godly atmosphere all the way around.

I am amazed at the love of teaching that is displayed by the teachers. My 7th grade daughter came out of her shell at Timothy and talks endlessly about her classes and what she is learning. Since going to TImothy, I never hear the words "I don't want to go to school" from any of my three children. It is wonderful to see that kindness and character matters. When I've been at school I've seen middle school students help younger students and boys hold doors for girls - don't we all want our daughters to be treated respectfully? The teachers in all classes encourage the students to pray & I have seen many students demonstrate compassion for others. We have been pleased with the cirriculum in elementary, middle school and high school and if additional assistance is needed, teachers are willing to help before or after school. It is no wonder people travel from over 50 different towns to attend the school. We live more than 15 miles away and there are 3 other families in our area that also do. Timothy Christian Schools are truly a blessing.

I pray that Timothy has improved. This school has great potential. But while my child was enrolled, I must say that I had my share of concerns. Being able to enter the facility because some well-meaning person would open the door for others instead of require that each person be buzzed in for security reasons was one of my concerns. Some of the teachers were great. A few were out to lunch when it came to being sensitive to the safety of my child. One teacher required my child to go out and pick up trash (without using gloves). My child actually picked up a cigarette butt. I was very unpleased upon learning this. One teacher had a problem keeping children from bullying other children. She would tell children being clobbered by bullying childen to just "shine for Jesus". But she had no children of her own. Also, I was invited to a pom-pom rally, but it left me thinking of Hooters instead of holiness. And I thought the principal was very ineffective. He seemed to just hear our concerns when we met with him without really listening with an aim of investigating the concern we shared with him to find the truth . So I thought it best to remove my child from Timothy.

Timothy Christian lives up to its name. Our two older kids are there and we look forward to having our third there too. TCS has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. There are other quality schools in our area but we chose TCS because it is simply outstanding. I wish I could have gone there as a kid!

Timothy Christain School is a great school. A place where a Christian world life view is developed and nutrured by dedicated and Christian teachers.

We love Timothy! Our kids come home everyday to share with us their experiences, all positive. They WANT to go to school. We, as parents, love Timothy. We are thrilled with the social, spiritual, and educational experiences Timothy offers. Timothy is DuPage county's best kept secret!

I don't know how this school could be any more Christian. They pray in every class multiple times each day. The students are taught bible stories. Scripture memorization is a graded part of the curriculum. There is a time of group worship weekly and the teachers could not be better examples of men and women living Godly lives. There is not a teacher at the school that is allowed to make up their own curriculum outside of the overall guidelines. The school is accredited and has to meet specific standards. Additionally, the school's test scores are sky high -- much higher than any other public or private school in the area. The students receive three 15 minute recesses each day. They're at school for seven hours. Research shows that students perform much better after being given a break. Could you spend seven hours at your work place with less than three brief breaks? And yes, the school has a Dutch heritage but there are far more people at the school that aren't Dutch than are. I've found the parent group warm and welcoming and eager for help from anyone who is willing to provide it. They didn't ask me if I was Dutch -- I'm not -- just if I'd be willing to help.

Timothy is providing my three children with a loving, caring, Christ-centered education. The teachers and administration truly care about developing children who will go into the world demonstrating Jesus' love to all.

People need to be honest. If you want a real Christian education, then don't send your child here! Except for having Christian verses on the boards and walls, they are no more Christian than the man in the moon. There are a few teachers that are gems, but most are not. The parent teacher group is exclusive, to those who are of dutch descent, which I am not. The academic are fair at most. Teachers are allowed to make up their own curriculums and are not held accountable. There are way too many recesses and too much working on computers. They use words like luck, push yoga and my daugther was allowed to pick up cigarette butts on earth day. When we questioned the teacher, she became insulted. So, be warn. Jesus is at this school, but only in word, not in action.

Our son is receiving age and skill level appropriate academic education in a Christ-centered, spirit-filled environment by God fearing and God loving educators. The educational materials are challenging and the program is well-rounded, including learning the Bible, math, reading, science, language arts, P.E., music, art, library time, computer ed and recess! What a blessing the school is for us.

Our experience at Timothy Christian Schools has been priceless. All three of our children attended TCS from K-12 (our last is now a Senior). We watched each of them grow in their faith during their time at TCS and they were well prepared academically to move ahead to college. Each of them have made comments on how much they appreciate the sacrifice and commitment made by parents, teachers and staff, to provide a Christian education and that their experience at Timothy will always be treasured. Our investment in a Christian education at Timothy will pay dividends for a lifetime.

We have been very pleased with the education our kids have recieved. Our kids have graduated and were totally prepared for college. The school offers an outstading education and has worked very hard to diversify. It has been around for almost 100 years!

TC has the best overall package in DuPage. Excellent academics and spiritual guidance are afforded to every student. I feel true partnership between the school administration and faculty and the home in educating my children (7th,5th, and 3rd grades). We have been truly blessed by this institution as a family!

I am a Timothy Christian Alumni, I cannot say enough great things about this school. I went to Timothy for 12 years, graduating in 2002. After my husband served time in the military, we had the choice to live anywhere in the world. We knew exactly where God was leading us and a big part of that was Timothy Christian. We knew our Children would have the greatest opportunity to succeed if they went to Timothy. As a former student, I cannot begin to express to you how comforting is was to know my teachers were praying for me. Every teacher and faculty member not only wants your child to succeed academically, but also spiritually. I have Cerebral palsy. It is hard knowing as a child that you are different, but going to Timothy I had the best support system and encouragement. Everyone's differences are appreciated. I have such peace of mind knowing that I am giving my kids the gift my parents gave me, A christian education at the best school. It is the greatest investment my husband and I will ever make and we are excited and encouraged to watch our Children succeed at Timothy Christian Schools.

This is an amazing school. The teachers are compassionate and caring and the school is extremely academically-competitive. Their test scores are always significantly higher than the public school distict, the state averages and the national averages. I also appreciate that the school is both ethnically and economically diverse. Plus, I am thrilled with the religious education my children are receiving.

Timothy Christian has been the best experience ever for both of my childre. They have attended since Kindergarten and are now in 7th and 9th grade. Academically they have excelled scoring extremely high on state testing as well as ACT testing. Not only are they being challenged academically but they are growing up in a God loving school where the teachers and their peers care about them and hold them accountable to a Christian way of behavior. My children are not stressed, are not bullied and are happy individuals. They have an amazing circle of friends and love school. I would recommend this school and I actually do recommend it to anyone looking for a positive school experience. A+++++++

Academics are better than average and challenging for most students, and a Christian perspective is evident in the curriculum, school environment and in the teaching staff. I am not happy that Timothy has become the food police for our children and have taken away the enjoyment out of eating, including special occasions. The current dean and principal's roles seem to be that of cops/detectives who are constantly trying to catch kids doing something, anything, that doesn't meet their ridiculous standards of behavior. Overall, we are still very happy, but these few things are troublesome.

I have 3 children at Timothy (K - 5th) and they all love it and have made great friends. The teachers, administration and parents are all very involved and provide a wonderful, loving, Christ-centered environment for our kids and all the kids at Timothy. The school is very diverse with children from many different socioeconomic backgrounds lead by excellent, loving teachers that help us as parents prepare them academically and spiritually to succeed in life and further His Kingdom here on earth. Could not be happier with Timothy.

We have a 5th, 3rd and Kindergartener at Timothy Christian School. We could not be more impressed with the teachers, office staff, principal and superintendent. When you walk the halls of Timothy you can feel the warmth of everyone there. It is a great feeling to send your kids off everyday to a school where you know the teachers love their students and are praying for them on a daily basis. We feel blessed to be a part of the Timothy community! Looking forward to many more years at Timothy!

Community ratings and reviews do not represent the views of GreatSchools nor does GreatSchools check their accuracy or verify the reviewers' identities. Use your discretion when evaluating these reviews.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
