I am a recent graduate of Erie High School, and I can attest to it being the best school any one could ask for. Every teacher is knowledgeable and willing to work individually with students. Test scores are pushed hard, however the school does a great job prepping students for college life.

Erie High School is great. I would like to thank the teachers and staff for an excellent job. My senior has interest from a wide variety of colleges, had a strong ACT score, and had fun in extracurricular activities. The district may be small, but the administration is innovative and forward thinking; by offering Black Hawk College classes and the recent laptops for all students program. AP classes may not be offered, but my child will be leaving high school with college credit at an affordable price. A++

Most staff members care about students & want them to be successful. Small class sizes = more one-on-one than most schools.

Most of the Staf does not care about the students but more about themself

As a former student, I will say I had an excellent experience at this school as far as interaction with teachers, but the size of the community sets this school up for doom. The size of the community is a factor because class sizes are small. When class sizes are small, fewer classes are offered. This means no AP classes for college-bound high school students. It also means that the top 10 percent of your class is 4-6 students, making those top scholarships nearly impossible to earn. Additionally, the quality of teachers has been slipping. Fewer young people want to live in this community, and so as the older, superb teachers retire, Erie School District must make exceptions in quality to simply fill the teaching position.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
