Woodland Elementary School

My daughter is now entering her third year at Woodland and it has been great! It's true that there are a lot of kids, but their system of organizing halls really works! My kids never go into a new classroom without knowing several kids. It's very organized! Dr. Hyllberg of Element. East is by far the best principal any school could have! The staff is just wonderful too.

My grandchildren attend this school and I am constantly reminded how large this school is and how it misses out on the intimacy of neighborhood schools in academics as well as good fellowship among students, teachers and parents.. I have witnessed too many negatives when a positive remark would go such much further.What is with the midterms when they are only sent out with negative remarks.

My daughter has ADHD and I suppose thats why we stay in this school district. We were thinking of moving to Grayslake however I was apaulled to hear that kids with ADHD are outcasts. Woodland is a fantastic school that works with the children and not against them. The children are not segregated based on their struggles and it seems to be a very positive environment. This is one school that I will say will go the extra mile to ensure that no child is left behind. Its a great school and I will definitely remain in this district so that both my children get the education that they deserve.

I love Woodland! I have a daughter in Kindergarten and a son in 2nd grade. The first comment people make about Woodland is how large this district is. However, they have established a 'school within a school' concept and its really working. My children have the opportunity to learn with old friends and new friends each year. I love that and the diversity that comes with it. I am very proud to be a Woodland parent. The teachers and principals go the extra mile for the students. There is also a strong network of families supporting the school. Go Wildcats!

I love this school. It is large, but they make it easy because they keep children together throughout the years. The teachers have been a God send. My daughter has ADHD and she is thriving at this school.

My son was having trouble in school, and his teacher contacted me very early in the school year to address it. We had a meeting with other staff members to find out what each of us could do to help him. He was diagnosed with AD/HD. His teacher and I worked together, and he went from being a mediocre and disruptive student to a bright, energetic and gifted child at home and at school. I have heard stories of how some schools do the minimum possible with AD/HD students, but this is not the case with Woodland Elementary. The school went out of its way to help my son. I think that the staff (teachers, psychologists, principals, etc.) at Woodland are wonderful people who really made a positive difference in my son's life. As a parent, I could not wish for anything more.
