GCMS HS is a great school with tons of opportunities available for those willing to take advantage of them. I find the people inthe office extremely professional and helpful. When my son had a problem the teachers and principal sat down with me and looked for solutions. His grades and outlook for school improved a lot and he is now starting to get more involved!
This school is really hit or miss. It has been awhile since I attended this school, but when I did the principal (who is still there) seemed to me to be unfit to be around people of any kind. The man is rude and has no compassion for anyone. The teachers that I did like and who actually taught me were great, the other teachers who played favorites and could teach their way out of a paper bag should have been fired, but they weren't do to the fact that they brown nosed to the principal, superintendent, and board. This school needs to work on getting teachers that know what they are doing in the classroom, not the boardroom.
While the high school attempts to prepare students for college, it does a mediocre job at doing so. There have been improvements since graduating, such as the addition of AP classes. However, with the teaching style and attitude of many of the teachers, unless you are a very good student, they don't really seem to care. Little attention is paid to students who, may not have great grades, but show potential.
