We just moved here last year and my child has Mrs. Shoemaker as the 2nd grade teacher. Mrs. Shoemaker, along with the rest of the staff, is very dedicated and committed to their students. The school encourages a lot of parental involvement and I am astounded how much dedication they have for these young students. I am very happy with the school and soo glad we made the decision to move here. And as opposed to one reviewer who said there are bullies on the bus, my child has not experienced any problems so far. The bus driver is very nice and attentive. I heard Field School recently got a national academic award, and Glenbrook South is academically known too. No wonder people always say Glenview has the best schools!

Winkelman is a fantastic school. The teachers are very passionate about their students and ensuring the grow and learn throughout the year. In particular, Ms. Weisberg in 1st grade goes above and beyond to make sure her students learn to read. The PE teacher Mr. LeBlanc teaches students not only to live healthy lifestyles through exercise, but inspires students to higher levels of character. Mrs. Reyes is amazing at second grade, not only teaching students academics, but making sure they make social progress. There are many more teachers that guide their students to meet the highest expectations. Even the office staff is amazing, with the friendly faces of Ms. Sowinski and Mrs. Braun. This is all capped off by the leadership of Maria Kalant, who has put this amazing team of educators together.

i have a kindergartner, 2nd grader, 5th grader and a 6th grader that just finished from the school. The teacher's are wonderful. lots of parent involvement.

My daughter is currently in 3rd grade. I think Winkelman is a great school.I was a little disappointed in [one] teacher. The other teachers are very helpful and willing to take an extra step.

I have 2 children at Winkelman. Overall, I would say most of the teachers are caring and dedicated, Mrs Kalotihos and her assistant Mrs Chen gave my daughter a wonderful 1st grade experience. However, I am very disappointed with my son's KG experience this year. There is not a challenging program available for students who can already read, write and comprehend topics before they start KG. The school obviously makes an effort to help children who are behind in KG, why not those who are ahead ? I simply can not accept the excuse of lack of school time available for kindergarteners. I have voiced my concerns repeatedly to my son's teacher who says there is nothing she can do and I also wrote to the Principal in Feb, but I never received a response. Another concern, younger kids are often intimidated by older kids on the school bus.
