I have graduated in 2007 from this school. When I was in 7th grade, the school was okay. When I got to 8th grade, they started making changes, they were starting to upgrade. New computer labs in every classroom, new teachers, and air conditioning! When I was there, there was about 5 fights. Not so many which is good, but they did give them a good punishment. Also, walking down the halls, you will hear kids chanting their graduation year, '07 or '08. But there was never a fight involving where you live in Glenwood, people just ask what part of Glenwood you live in. Now, when you want to use the washroom or go somewhere else, the teacher has to call the office to send someone to escort the child to that place. Every school has their trends, so thats normal.

I am a parent of a student at Brookwood Jr High School. My experience has been very upsetting. The student body has changed over the last 5 years dramtically. The focus of the students is fashion (what type of clothes you are wearing) and where you live. The students fight very often especially after school. Most fights depend on where you live in Glenwood. How can a good student focus on learning and growing when he or she has to worry about fighting after school? The faculty's response to this disturbing problem has been discipline those students involved. Unfortunately, the problem is post discipline and not preventing this type of behavior. The school policy is way to lienant on the problem kids. From a parent perspective, this school reflects inner city problems with gangs, and fights. They need new faculty to address these ongoing issues.

The school is performing on a downward slide as far as the academics there are concerned and the problem does not appear to be getting resolved anytime in the near future.

I think the kids should have better lunches. I also think in the middle school they should switch classes baseed on thier skills, because having students at different levels is no challenge for smarter kids. In the Jr. High they should have a stepping team.
