Contrary to the other posts, my experience with JHS was different. The way JHS works in my opinion is if your a hard worker and you comprehend what the teacher is saying you get to take great classes with great teachers but if your an underperforming student your forced to take really easy classes where you don't learn much with sometimes teachers who don't care. I was a student there from 2007-2011. Don't get me wrong their is plenty of great teachers there but their are some who don't care.

I have loved all of my time at JHS. All of the teachers, at least the ones I have had, are very well-versed in their subjects and are eager to help when problems arise. The school has recently taken advantage of technology by installing SmartBoards in almost every classroom. These boards are incredibly fun to use and make learning an interactive experience, instead of just listening. All of the staff are very kind and caring people. I highly recommend this high school.

I think Jacksonville High School is a great school. The teachers are excellent and they all know the subjects that they are teaching very well. I have enjoyed all my years here at JHS. I feel like all the teachers make you feel welcome in the school. There are also a variety of wonderful extracurricular activities. There is band, orchestra, Science Club, Film Club, Art Club, and all different kinds of sports. I would definately recommend this school!

My 2 children went through JHS and became extremely successful college students. A terrific public high school.

Two of my children have graduated from JHS with 1 more to go. Both of the graduates are in college and doing very well. The wide diversity of classes offered provides something for everyone. The Science Department is outstanding. Without exception, the science teachers are well-versed in their subject area. Courses are offered to appeal to students of all ability and interest levels. I would recommend Jacksonville High School to everyone.

JHS is a fun school to go to. A great thing about this school is that it has a string orchestra, something that most schools in this area of Illinois don't have. The teachers are nice and everybody mostly gets along, but there aren't that many AP classes and not much diversity. okay, there's almost no diversity at ALL, and a lot of focus is given to the fact that agriculture is a big part of life in this part of the country. But if you are looking for a small high school with a pretty good education, you should go here.
