This is the beginning of my 6th grade year in the academy program. I love it! We all get laptops, and the teachers are so sincere. This is definitley someplace I would love to spend my next two years in!

As a former alumni of WJHS this particular school needs more improvement regarding providing essential needs for the school. For example books are limited therefore kids have to share or the teachers have to make copies for each student which takes away the learning time for each student. The new principal lacks communication regarding addressing parental issues and concerns, when a problem should arrise from the parent/student. As for activities, the music program has been around for years, but it is not as successful as in the past. Meaning, this school could use additional activities to keep kids off the streets. Also, there is a great need of new plumbing, because kids have stated that the drinking water taste like rotten eggs with a yellow color, so this is a potential hazard issue. We need parent involvemnt so that issues like the above can be prevented and improved.

Washington had a completely new staff this year -- from principal to most of the teachers. The changes in the school are wonderful. The principal is a leader and is in touch with the community's needs. However, there are still very few activities outside of the music program and sports for the children to participate in.
