This is a great school. They have tons of activities to engage parents with teachers. Teachers are really concerned for the overall welfare of the students. The new principal is changing things at this school to make parent's have more information about what is going on at the school. We get calls when the school closes or when busses run late. The office staff is incredible! They are very helpful and they help you get those forms that your student needs. They also, help your student get the lunches or water bottles when they leave them at home on accident. The Nurse makes sure all those vaccines are up to date and your student is healthy. The librararian keeps the library in "working order". She knows exactly how to find the perfect book. She encourages you to read with your child. This is a theme that seems to be heard throughout the school. Keep up the great work!
My 3 children have had wonderful experiences at Grand Prairie. My daughter struggles in school and her teachers have been very proactive in identifying her areas of deficiency. She is successful because of them. I feel like they treat her as they would their own! The math curriculum has been revised and is much better!
I love the Grand Prairie staff and families. I do however believe the math program is highly failing my child. As a parent it is hard to see your child having problems only to be told that the district is too large to allow one on one time. The individual teachers care but they have to follow the orders of the district which is sadly overcrowded and understaffed. I hope someone does something fast before it is too late for some of our children.
Grand Prairie is a wonderful school. However, I feel that there could be some improvement in identifying and working with academically challenged students. My experience is, if the student is naturally talented, they will do fine; however, if they have problems, they might be missed until it is too late. The music and art programs at thee schools are great and the school has great parental support. I love the way that the school has helped students learn to deal with the recent catastrophes in our nation in a positive way.
