I was associated with this school a while back and this was the worst experience of my life. The administration is weak and does not support teachers. The students are out of control. This is a dangerous place to send your child or to work in.

I am a graduate of Kankakee High School, and had recently been employed as support staff.I had been in District 111 since the third grade and do not regret being one of its students neither was I ever interested in working in any other district. With anything, there is room for improvement, but I believe you can only do what you can. Most times parents blame teachers, staff and other students for how their own children turn out.parents, you are your child's first teacher and often times first friend. Contrary to popular belief, the administration and teachers care a great deal about student achievement and they work hard to see that they excel. Kankakee, as a whole, has been given a bad rap, but when its all said and done, we are a community of people who care about one another. 'Who Can? We Can! Kankakee Can!'

I would never regret graduating from Kankakee High School. I am much more well rounded than a lot of people with whom I attend school now. The cultural background has made me a stronger person, and I don't appreciate it when people bash my high school. For those of you who had trouble fitting in, maybe there's something wrong with your child. Almost all people find friends easily. The school is extremely diverse, which just adds to the atmosphere. The athletic teams have been struggling, but the academics are getting stronger everyday. The English department is awesome. The science department could use some help though. The drama department is the best around.

I am a student at KHS and I really don't appreciate some of what you people have said. Kankakee is a learing experience as is all school, yes I agree sometimes people in the school make it a hinderence to learn...but have you looked how many achievments people have made that have graduated from this school...I would never not go to this school it has been a great experience for me and it is just like the real worlddon't hinder our school unless you have gone through it...I would never ever switch schools! -A dissapointed student

I originally am from the Chicago area and I can personally say that the Kankakee Schools are not as bad as people may think. Chicago school are riddled with gangs and drugs. So dont critisize the schools here. I have had 2 adult children to graduate from the Kankakee Schools and I now have a daughter who is a Junior and a son who is a Honors Freshman. All schools have room for improvement, even private schools.

This school is a dangerous place for some students. If your child will not fit into the local scene, consider moving elsewhere or private school. I found most of the teachers and administrators helpful, but my child who excells in almost all subjects and who usually fits right in had a very difficult adjustment. Few new students go here, and it is easy to see why.

This school like all have good and bad points. If your child if gifted, this school will meet and exceed their needs. If your child plays softball or wants to learn spanish, you might want to check somewhere else. This school can not hold on to a softball coach or a spanish teacher for very long.
