We moved to this neighborhood specifically so our son could attend Spring Ave when he was going into 2nd grade. He is now in 6th, his last year at Spring and we could not be happier with the experience. Class sizes are small and the school provides good grounding in all the basic subjects as well as an excellent gifted and advanced program for both math and english. Classes attend art, gym, computer labs and music and there is a very active parent community. Spring is a 'walking school' so all the kids walk to school and although it might not look as fancy or technologically advanced as some schools, the emphasis here is on teaching both the subjects and good lifetime study habits and skills. The principal Mrs. Webb is excellent- very accessible and a good administrator whom the kids seem to genuinely like and respect. I would recommend Spring Ave to any family.

Rated #1 elem school in all of Cook County, IL (second largest county in US), small classes, kids all walk, small school with involved parents. Ideal setting for kids to thrive.

Both our children, twins, have been in Spring Ave since Kindergarten. The teachers are terrific. Most of the teachers have been their long-term. The teachers and administrators are very involved in the children's education, take time and work with all of the students. The parents are involved in school activities, they also volunteer to help the students in areas such as, extra curricular activities, after school classes ie, science, astronomy, and sports. Parents volunteer for field trips, read to students, and even volunteer in the office if need be. There is a great working relationship between the parents, school board, teachers, and administrators, and staff. This is an ideal place to send your children to school.
