i do not know what these reviewers are talking about. obviously they have never attended the school and are speaking from an outsider's point of view. There are many great teachers at the school that make it a fun and great atmosphere to learn in. As for the comment that the school is not a challenge for the 'gifted' students. If that is true than why is lakes suited for a student who has an I.Q. of nearly 200 and is a senior that is younger than the average sophmore? As for myself i am an honors student in most categories that offer it and i have yet to become bored with the curriculum.

Lakes is an ideal school for the average student. Anything above, your child will be at a complete disadvantage. Clean, safe and middle school atmosphere; a hospital environment as walls still remain white (no allowance for student creativity in expression). Not much going on for being a high school; students do not have much drive regarding school support/spirit (besides football). Principal, articulate and professional, doing best; knowing his limitations with Supt./BOE. Again, if your child is driven, smart and thinks outside the box - he/she will be disappointed as to the limitations at LCHS. Truly anticipating the Principal's goals and achievements... if anyone realizes, he will make eventual changes. Excellent teachers eventually leave the mondane atmosphere, to be in a district which allows for stepping beyond the instructional manual.

Great school Safe respectful place to be, and learn. Elective courses are bland. and not a broad enough choice.

On the plus side, Lakes is a very safe, wholesome school with very involved students and a lot of school spirit. The building itself still has that 'brand new' feel. There is a new principle who shows a great deal of promise. Like most schools, the Lakes teaching staff includes a handful of great teachers and a fair number of poor (usually tenured)teachers with most falling somewhere in between. Unfortunately, gifted and talented students at Lakes do not find as many challenges as they should, especially in the English and science departments. In fact, in a misguided new initiative to quantify student performance across the district, finals for honors and regular students are exactly the same! Though parents are greatly involved in sports and fine arts, there is not a lot of attention being paid to the quality of higher level academics at Lakes. Average students thrive; gifted kids are disappointed.
