I agree with the postings before this one that say the school presents a friendly atmosphere with teachers and staff who are friendly and approachable. However, the curriculum leaves a lot to be desired as was mentioned below with the reading scores. Their math program is a bust as well from my perspective. They base acceptance into their accelerated math program by the NWEA RIT score coming out of 2nd grade. If your child doesn''t make the 85th percentile that test period, you can pretty much forget them getting into the program as the regular math curriculum does nothing to help them surpass grade level. With accelerated math really being the next year's math curriculum, you will always be behind. You can pay for outside programs such as Huntington or any of the others, but why should we have to pay more on top of the tax dollars already paid.

I have 2 children that attend B.J. Hooper and I could not be more happier. My youngest has difficulties with speech. I could not be any happier with the results I have seen in him. The teachers are always there for us when we need anything. My daughter just loves going to the school and seeing all of the teachers. Thank You very much.

My 5th grade child has attended B J Hooper since Kindergarten. She is happy to go to school and we both feel it is an extension of our home. I have seen the principal demonstrate wisdom and tact on numerous occasions. Nothing is ever perfect. But faced with the adversity of budget cutbacks the B J Hooper administration and teaching staff have continued to perform in the best interest of the children. This school is one thing that keeps me in Lindenhurst. Thank you B J Hooper!

We moved from a rather good school district, Since my daughter has been attending District 41 I have not seen her more happy! The teachers show a definite intrest in each student, The principal is in daily contact with all students, And I feel our parent involvement are outstanding. I would rather be no place but at B.J. Hooper.

At this time the school is cutting back on most of there school programs. I only want the best for my child s education and it looks like they my be loosing bits and pieces now and in the future at this school. The cuts being made are in art, music, and their student assist staffing ratio. They have a low rating on their student reading state scores and need better academic programs to keep up with other schools achievements. Also, they have suggested trying to shorting school days.

The staff at BJ Hooper school create a positive learning environment and really help to bring out the best in their students. My child's learning disabilities are being addressed in the best manner possible, and he is receiving an excellent education from experienced, highly qualified teachers and staff.
