I feel this school has a "one size fits all" education policy. My child is advanced and is forced to be bored and crawl under the teacher's level of expectation daily. Alot of the teachers will only do what is required, nothing more. They seem more concerned by state test scores than educating the child. I wish they could group the kids by ability so all of them can be educated.

I love Milne Grove - everyone there goes above and beyond to help not only the students, but parents as well.

I agree with another post about teaching with the states testing in mind. I feel that my sons' have learned nothing while attending Milne. I, too, feel that the students are restricted from expanding their knowledge. Everything is so regimented. I understand that they need structure but there is so much more that they could be learning in the classroom. I am so tired of seeing the same math pages . It is so repetitious that I wonder if the kids have it memorized and are just going thru the motions. I really don't understand why it was voted in the top 10. But again, that was almost 4 years ago. It is time for the school to step it up a bit. The teachers need a new approach to teaching to make it fun for the kids as well.

They have the most dedicated staff, caring teachers, who try to insure that each child has their needs met.

My children really enjoy this school. It has a nice student teacher ratio. My oldest son was in second grade when we transfered into this district (now in fourth grade) he really enjoys it. My younger boy is very shy and he also enjoys teachers and overall setting. I think this is an excellent school. It is however time to replace or close Milne grove and just build-on at Kelvin Grove the school is just worn out!! They do make the best of what they have there though. I'm glad to be in this district.

I am really happy with this school. We just moved to the area this summer, so this is my (twin)3rd graders' first year here. Their grades have improved, they have made lots of friends, and they actually enjoy going to school, which they did not at their last school in Orland. The only complaint I have is the amount of snow/cold days this year.

I have found this school to be good in some areas and weak in others. I feel like my child has learned quite a bit this year, but I am dissatisfied with the way they learned. Their teacher has told the kids that school is not supposed to be fun. She has loaded them up with an excessive amount of homework each night. When my child was absent the teacher refused to send work home and made my child miss recess instead to complete it. So for one absence my child lost over a week of recess. Seemed like punishment to me and my child. My child no longer likes school since transferring there and I am seriously considering private school for my child and younger children before they go there. Its sad that such a young child can be made to hate school so early on!
