Glenbard East is the best of all Glenbard Schools. It has a GREAT music program and is the best for top students. Glenbard East also has the most diverse group of students of all the Glenbard schools.
I am so glad I stayed here all four years. Just graduated in 2008 and man there are so many great memories. I wish I can relive those years again. The teachers are great, very lively, involved and encouraging. I felt at home when I was at East. I always felt safe and sound. And also the neighborhood is very nice during spring and summer. I miss it too much,
East has a fantastic boys volleyball program. The coaches are awesome! ; both in really working their skills and keeping their drive positive. There is this fun comradery between all the levels of teams - they always cheer each other on - I love our varsity team!
My daughter is a junior and all 3 years has had very caring, dedicated, communicative teachers. Staff addresses issues promptly and the atmosphere is a positive, encouraging one for all students. Very impressive and much better than the local middle school.
If how they treat in-district homeschooled kids is any indication of how they treat their students, this is a miserable place. Now that my kids would like to attend a public high school I'm met with resistance by the guideance department. Unprofessional attitudes, messages not returned, and a refusal to meet with us or give a tour. Funny how they'll take my tax money but not my kids. I think I'll be going somewhere where the people actually care about the kids, not the money.
i am a graduate of gehs, and i loved it. the teachers loved to get involved, and most students are friendly. i met so many people there, and am glad i had the experience. gehs is very diverse and there are alot of opportunites to express yourself.
I believe this school is a great school. The teachers are very supportive of the students. The music department is excellent.
A great school, offers great opportunities to get involved, through music, theatre, or athletics. Teachers are extremely helpful and supportive. It is very diverse and allows you to meet lots of new people. It is very crowded, but is run very smoothly. Excellent selection of AP classes. Great preparation for college. Principal is extremely supportive and encouraging of all students and staff.
Glenbard east is a great school. The students and techers are always alive. There is a huge variety of students and teachers which makes the experience there even better. Their art and music program is one of the best ever. The kids a dedicated and also love it.
This school has a great academic system and pretty high ACT scores, but what really stands out is the music and other extracurricular activities. These organizations always surprise me with what they are able to produce and many different clubs are available. Music wise, there are choirs, orchestras, and bands, but there are also all different kinds of clubs that can serve a purpose to your child. There is a great theatre program and many sports including basketball, tennis, badminton, wrestling, soccer, football, cross country, tennis, baseball, softball, gymnastics, poms, and cheerleading. Overall I think that this is a great school and all of my children have attended it.
There is a large selection of extracurricular activities, but after the recent referendum the opportunities will be most costly for students to parcipate. The community does not recognize the need for tax increases and is not supportive of the school.
Glenbard East is a great school for the arts. Their music program is among the best in the State. Their band is 2nd to none. This school is alive! It seems to never shut down. The teachers and administration are dedicated to adding to the quality of young peoples lives. If you have a good kid, they will help to make them great, but like all kids it's up to them if they want to accept the help. 2 of my 3 kids attend this school, and we've lived next to the school for 12 years. Mostly good kids. One more item, this school is pretty open and depends upon the community to provide security and direction. It is not institutionalized. If you don't mind that atmosphere, you'll love the school!
I have found that Glenbard East is a very good high school. If your student truly wants to achieve, the teachers and administrators will go out of their way to make it happen. Most teachers (with a few exceptions) seem to truly care about their students and try to assist them become better people. The music department is incredible!
I found that teachers ignored parental requests to be involved, ignoring parent phone calls regarding child's progress in class. Although my student rarely turned his homework in, I was not informed of his failing grade until 2 weeks prior to report cards coming out, even though I had called on numerous occasions asking about his progress. No one returned my calls unless I complained to the principal. The school also neglected to inform me of my student cutting class constantly. On one occasion, his English teacher sent a note home with numerous grammatical errors. This is an example of what my child was taught in school?
You need to live in the town of Lombard for athletics and to be a part of this school! Need to change boundaries or build a new high school!!!!!
