I have 1 kid in school there now, she was a honer roll student in Middle school. Now is barely passing.I asked for a meeting so we can find out what could be done. At the meet Vise principal and some of the teachers.I asked her math teacher if he could help her out before or after school. Then I asked what % of the class was failing or barely passing . I was told more then half . He told me the kids don't want to learn . I don't believe that . we need teacher who what to teach and not just collect a pay check. The kids are the future of mchenry. And if you have teachers that don't care the kids don't care. If you wonder why Mchenry school system is in trouble, the system protect the teacher. If a teacher has 50% of kid failing there's a problem . The kids have to work hard and do there work be the teacher must be held accountable

East has been a great school for all my children. The community is up and coming now and this school is growing positively right along with that. Lots of extras here. I would recommend this school and area.

East teachers really are there for the students, and keep the parents involved all the way! I am going to have a hard time finding a school that I can trust with my childrens education and welfare when we move at the end of this school year. This school has set a high standard to follow!

East is a fantastic school. All the teachers genuinely care about their students and want them to succeed in whatever they choose to do in life. The principal ms. Schnelker is a true gem. The school is adding more AP classes which really helps students students prepare for college. East will prepare a student extremely well for college if the student takes some upper level classes. East has an amazing theater department which acts like a second family for the students.

I love East, the teachers are the best you could hope for. The greatest part about East is it's options, if it wasn't for the various amounts of choices, I would lose my mind! If you are going to go to this school, I suggest that you do theatre, we have a great program, and the director is such a genuine person that you'll love to be in it.

McHenry is a good school in a blue collar community. The biggest problems are a wide variance in the aptitude of teachers employed, and a very limited advanced course selection. As a student I feel safe at my school. There are currently some issues with the building. A big positive is that many students share a close (not inappropriatelt so)relationship with their teachers, and most teachers are available for assistance during and after school.
