My daughter has been going to Villa since she was 1. In comparison to other kids I know, she is light years ahead of them. DeAnn is an amazing teacher. This environment has been extremely helpful for my strong willed daughter, who does not necessarily handle structure as well as she should. There is structure at Villa, but flexibility as well... this is very important to us. If she wants to excel, she will not be held back by a rigid curriculum. I'm not sure where the other parents are coming from saying their kids do not get attention at Villa??? It is their job to make sure your child can adapt and be self sufficient. They are by no means negligent! Example of excellent leadership of this school: we wanted our daugher to move to the next classroom and Renee and DeAnn challenged us by explaining that leadership will be an important facet to what she will gain this year. They were absolutely right, this was the correct decision and we have seen the results. The only reason I give 4 stars here is because I agree with others that the front office is somewhat disorganized. Whenever I ask a question, only one person knows the answer. It is a little frustrating.
I would never recommend villa Montessuri Moline to anyone. I still regret putting my 2 year old son in it. He had the worst time there. Teachers were not bothered. Administration doesnt care. They are just money making business, don't care about kids at all.
Very bad adminstration. Too many kids and less staff. Overall very poor. Teachers are also not bothered about kids
My daughter has been attending VMS since she was 3 months old. It is a perfect fit for her. We could not be happier. The teachers and staff have been wonderful and helpful in her development and learning. The only dissapointment we have is the lack of parent involvement with requested volunteerism or activities. This is especially the case during the Annual Carnival event.
Our kids have been attending Villa for over 2 years and continue to go there. While the Montessori philosophy may not work for all children, both of our children are self-motivated and have done very well socially and academically. We decided to keep our older child in the elementary program there after looking at public schools and the other area private schools. Academically, the school fosters learning and providing a solid understanding of the basic foundation kids need in all subject areas. The teachers are terrific and caring, and I disagree with a previous comment about the teachers not having time to spend teaching children. We want the best education possible for our children and have no doubt that this is best the area has to offer.
I am a former student at this school and am very happy with my parent's decision to enroll at Villa Montessori. I feel that the staff and teachers are there directly to support the students, which is exactly why they have such a positive relationship. While attending, I felt like I was part of our own little community made up of students from six weeks old to sixth grade. We worked together in our mixed age classrooms to help others and learn by doing. Being able to learn at my own pace allowed me the opportunity to challenge myself, which led to me wanting to continue to challenge myself in public school, college, and now in my career and personal life. A home life following the same format allowed me to continue to grow and strive for more knowledge. When I have children, I look forward to enrolling them as well.
I had to remove my daughter from this school because of poor reading and writing skills. Many other parents havve done the same. After putting her in public school she has done very well.
I am a former teacher at this school. There is a great divide in this environment between true Montessori academics and requirements of public facilities. The is school has never found it's place between the two, and in my opinion is a major concern. In my experience the staff were exceptional people. The administration was out of touch with day to day activities and difficult to work with. As some also noted, the child to teacher ratios and over sized classrooms mean that teacher/staff spend too much time monitoring children, a little time teaching. New leadership and a new direction would serve this school immensely.
In my opinion, its disorganized outlook is somewhat compensated by a number hardworking teachers, who in fact have lot many things to do. I'm not surprised, if kid feels a little lost in such an environment.
My four year old has been going to Villa for the past 9 months and it has been an entirely positive experience for both my child and myself. In the short time he's been there, he has had a chance to get involved with his classmates, develop leadership skills, and become a more independant learner. We've found the entire staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. I've enjoyed volunteering and appreciate how much parent involvement is encouraged.
