Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Teacher's are wonderful and great with my daughter. Disappointed with the current principal, Mary Baum. Doesn't follow through or up with issues and concerns. She more or less ignores concerns as when brought to her attention or doesn't look out for the best interest of the child. There seems to be favoritism towards certain social statuses than others. Very concerned that school volunteers are not background checked at all. Had issues of not being informed of incidences until two to three days after the incident happened. My daughter was bullied throughout last year and the support/lunch staff didn't handle it appropriately. Even after my child was pushed from behind and fell to the ground. I had to take it to the temporay vice principal myself. He did what he could do at the time. Yet the principal never followed up on the occurrence nor was there any displinary actions towards the other child who was bullying my child. And we are suppose to trust our kids under this. If the old principal or Ruth Cross was still at the school, there wouldn't of been as many issues.

Mill Street School has 635 kids and 32 Sections. Second year Principal Mary Baum is an outstanding leader and my children are better people for attending this school. The staff and teachers are second to none in district 203. The continued attention my children are getting there is second to none. Thank you Mill Street staff and teachers!

Mill street is execellent for general ed students, but I also have 2 special ed students at the school and I feels as if they could try a little harder to accommodate their needs.

Mill Street is an excellent school. While I have some minor complaint, they are minor. Overall this is a well run and academically challenging school. My minor complaints deal with getting more children in their PI program (supposedly for gifted children). My son was in it but I think that more children could benefit from this program. Getting in is based entirely on test scores which I beleive to be poor way to differentiate between students. There are many very dedicated and excellent teachers at this school. I only had two that I thought were not quite up to the others in quality.
