i strongly disagree with the parent review from december 2005...nchs is a great school and community to be a part of...yes there may not be as many courses as larger schools, but you have to remember it is a small town community with wonderful family values and life lessons that they are learning outside of the classroom that more than makes up for it...you can't say that about larger city school districts...so take your pick, if you feel you need to move to a larger city to get that specific class for your child, go ahead...but i'll choose the safer, closer knit community anyday...

Great school! The physical education classes for the high school are great. My kids love thier drivers education instructor! He is a very caring, and compassionate teacher. Go Newton High!!

I am a 2002 graduate of Newton Community High School. I was appalled to find a parent review that included 'NCHS does not prepare their students well for college.' As a future May 2006 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I can attest that NCHS fully equipped me with the skills I needed to meet the academic challenges at the U of I. Additionally, NCHS provides students with a variety of sports and extracurricular activities ranging from Parliamentary Procedure for those interested in agriculture or band for those who are musically inclined. NCHS also provides a program specifically for seniors called Career Practicum which enables students to experience a variety of career options. I could not think of any better place to send your child if you are looking for a school where your child will emerge academically and socially prepared for secondary education.

this school doesn't have as many courses to choose from as other schools. they odnt prepare the students for college as well as other schools. they have alot of general courses but nothing to give the students a way to explore options about what they wanna be in life.
