I love this school. I love the staff and I love, love, love the teachers! My daughter was at New Hope for all 4 years of high school. She graduated this past June. It was not always an easy journey. The school is strict and very structured and my daughter is not. The administration changed after the first year and that made a huge difference and it just kept getting better and better. It is a safe, loving environment where kids are free to express themselves and learn in the manner that suits them best. I am sorry my daughter had to graduate. I hope New Hope starts a transition program in the future.
If you're thinking about going to New Hope Academy, think again. The administration is very unorganized and show much favoritism. Never in my life have I seen such poor performance in a school.
We tried to enroll our daughter at NHA for 2 years but our local school system would not support it.. She is finally in the NHA system and for the 1st time in her life she loves school and even likes doing homework. The teachers and therapists are exceptional.
Our daughter has been at New Hope for 1 1/2 years. What a blessing this school has been for her! She is doing very well both academically and emotionally, and finally feels she is at a place that understands her needs and learning style (she has ADHD and nonverbal learning disability). The teachers and staff at New Hope are dedicated to both the students and the parents. We very much feel part of a wonderful team that is committed to our daughters success. We are so glad we found New Hope.
My daughter entered New Hope Academy 3 years ago. At the time, she was distressed both physically and emotionally, and had just completed her 3rd inpatient stay. She was unable to get out of the car and enter the doors of her local HS, and ended up missing many days of school and failing all her classes. In seven weeks she will graduate from New Hope with a 3.8 GPA, ACT of 27, and acceptance letters from two respected 4 year colleges. She is happy, outgoing, stable, confident, hard working and delightfully silly. New Hope s dedicated teachers and therapists worked together as a well coordinated team in providing an excellent academic foundation as well as a highly effective therapeutic approach which, in my view, saved my daughter s life, and positioned her for success in the years ahead. The transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. Thank you New Hope.
New Hope does a good job handling some challenging students, making them feel successful, thru a blend of academic and effective social expectations, along with tailored therapeutic sessions. NHA has dedicated individuals in both teaching and therapeutic staff that make a difference. We think our child, diagnosed with emotional disorders, will be successful in life after NHA, and are certain she would have 'eaten alive' in the social environment of her home high school, despite the fact that that school is an excellent high school.
Thank goodness for New Hope Academy! The teachers and therapists have helped our child develop into a good student and happier person. The staff works hard to connect with the students to teach and guide their development in a very wholistic way. The progress our child has made in remarkable!
Very disappointed in the quality of this school. I agree with previous parents' review, very neglectful to my child's needs, both therapeutically and educationally. I felt as though they overlooked my thoughts and opinions as a parent, and I feel they did the same to my daughter, dismissing her thoughts and ideas as nothing more than symptoms of her illness. Would not recommend this school, staff is at best unhelpful and unproductive, and the administration is extremely inconsistent with rules and decisions. It was not a good situation for my child, who was here because she needed a stable environment. This school failed to provide.
Neglectful to my student's theraputic needs. Unhelpful administration and teachers. Last resort, especially if you want your child to succeed.
As a student at New Hope I find this school to be very helpful in many aspects. On the other hand this school has a reputation for over punishing students. Sometimes even punishing an innicoent. It doesn't happen very often but when it does those punished are immeadetly hushed upon their return to school. it seems to me that it's becoming more frequent. Their actions have come to personally offend me. We are people too, not just a bunch of messed up students.
The school is wonderful for students who have difficulty functioning in large school settings. The teaching staff are very experienced and care about the students. Administration is consistent and professional. Although students do not partake in extracurricular activities, they do try to incorporate fun activities school wide throughout the school year.
I fully agree with a previous statement. The teachers are great, the administration seems inexperienced and unable to make intelligent/consistent decisions.
