My daughter has had great experiences at this school. They are inclusionary and visionary. They keep in touch with parents through several avenues of communication, and do their best to present interesting and informative classes, not just "college prep" pabulum.

I have two daughters who are about to enter their junior and senior years at Normal West. My oldest daughter is very involved within the school, and both find it to be more than satisfactory. My oldest daughter is active in FFA, speech, drama and both of my daughters are involved choir and the spring musical. The teachers are wonderful, and Normal West definitely a school geared towards the students. The principal is very involved with all of the sports and activities within the school. While the district is weak in its leadership and money handlings, the school itself is a wonderful place.

NCWHS has proved to be an excellent school for me to attend. The level of academic learning is generally high, and the teachers are very engaging. The Normal West teaching staff really takes an effort to connect with the students. The school is generally quite spirited, most students find at least one thing that makes them want to go to school. The classes and teachers in the Fine Arts & English departments really stand out. Normal West's sports teams may be average [with arguably the best girls soccer team in the state], but the speech & theatre programs are what pull NCWHS to the top.

Normal West visually is one of the nicest schools in the Big 12 conference. However, it's academics and sports programs aren't anything special compared to other schools in the conference. It's music department is wonderful however. Many of the teachers here are young, inexpirenced, and aren't creative. Overall though, it is a good, not great, place to learn. Crime and violence is low and Normal is a good community to live in.
