Might I alao say, with the new school built, there is no overcrowding. The other school I am sure is semi-good. But NO ONE can but FJHS. There was also reports of rasicm. (at carriel) But I have no comment on that.
My oldest child is due to graduate 6th grade in less than a week, in May, 2010. This is the first year Fulton has had 6th grade. Overall, this school is EXCELLENT. Facilities are top-notch, tremendous parental involvement, the number of extra-cirricular activities is mind-boggling, from sports to drama clubs to more scholarly pursuits. The school's 2 drawbacks are 1) they haven't learned how to deal with 6th graders yet. Problem 2 is staffing, particularly this year. The only two language teachers were brand new, no experience, and chronologically young. This has resulted in fairly poor instruction and TREMENDOUS amounts of homework for this one class. My child's not the only one with literrally 7 hours of homework/week in this one class. Other than this BADLY weak area, it's a good school.
Fulton Jr. High School was one of the best transitions we made for our son. He has learned a lot of new and exciting things this year. The teachers are set on helping the students reach their full potential. As parents we are happy to have caring and dedicated teachers as a part of our team to help with the success of our children.
I love this school it is very good with kids and alot of after school activities! this school has the best teachers!
As a 2006 graduate from Fulton, I found the school to fit my every need. The teachers are knowledgeable and help the kids to improve their academics for their future in high school. Most of the teachers are very enthusiastic about their jobs and try to interact with their students. There are many extracurricular that give kids pride to be a part of that group. They also have a great band program with an excellent director. It is a delightful junior high.
I just graduated from this school this year.It was built in 1999 and everything is new and very nice. The teachers her are wonderful and the extra-curriculars are great. We have a lot of academic programs for those who may be behind and those who are academically talented. Last year we had a new pricipal, David Cowger, come in and will be getting a new principal next year (although the specific reason is unbeknown to the public). The only problem is that the area is growing too fast for Fulton to handle. I graduated Fulton with a class of 413 and each year that number grows. There has been talk of a new junior high, and even a new high school, being built in the coming years. Even for that, this school is a great school and I enjoyed it very much!
I agree, if your student requires any extra motivation or encouragement, this is not the school for them. It is run as a high school with none of the middle school interventions that help students who are struggling at this age.
The taxes are EXTREMELY high and this school is very overcrowded. Some teachers told me that they didn't have time to keep me informed of my student s progress because they had so many other students that were worse off. They don't send progress reports home unless your child is failing. If your child is highly disciplined and able to work independently then it is a good school. If your child is an average student then they will get lost in the chaos.
My child attended 7th grade here and is now half way through 8th grade. He's been very happy at Fulton and we've been please with the programs. Some overcrowding has surfaced particularly in honors classes. Excellent facilities. Excellent safety and security.
