Ottawa Township High School

A classic case of 'don't judge a book by its cover.' The grounds and facilities are very good but the leadership has very low acedemic standards. The young superintendent and principal seem to be in over their head.

While certain teachers excel, and go above and beyond the call of duty, I would describe this school as unsatisfactory overall. Coaches are focused on their teams over their classes. Small town politics are definitely in place. It is difficult to discuss specific issues with the school because often phone calls are not returned to parents/students. I am sorry that I did not move out of the district before my children entered this school or at least found a way to make the private school option.

The amount of politics involved with the administration and extracurricular activities is extraordinarily outrageous. The staff should be more concerned about the students' education and potential to succeed instead of concentrating on the negative aspects of individual students. Yes, the music program is great but the state testing scores reveal how academically motivated the system is.

Good safe school. Math department is poor and needs to be reorganized. The music program is great. The same effort in math and science could turn this school around.

Great school! Amazing music program! I went on to college and found I was more than well prepared. However, many of my class mates were able to go in to several different fields and trade schools. Ottawa High School is very diverse in it acidemic opertunities. Almost all of the teaches have masters degree's in their area of study. It is also located in a nice safe area.

An amazingly poor academic institution based upon my one year experience within its walls. The school is simply a microcosm of all the negative aspects of Ottawa with drugs, violence, intimidation, and total lack of respect for the teachers. Many students are intimidated and typical small town politics are the norm. I would never send my kids to this school. In fact, one year was enough to prove it necessary to leave this town and its poor academics behind. They say that you can judge the worth of a town by its commitment to education. If this is true, Ottawa is a very poor choice for those wanting their children to succeed.
