Not a safe environment for children! I was afraid for my child and decided to enroll him in a nearb private school!
My oldest son was a student at Indiana School and the experience wasnt that great there seemed to be a lack of leadership and the school didnt appear to be going in the right direction. My youngest son has been in attendance for the last two years and since that time they have a new principal, Mr. Tomvic and he is a great leader and seems to have the teachers motivated to do their best, the band program is second to none and there is great support from the district--Dr. Davis is wonderful. Indiana School is a great place to be.
My children transitioned here from Arcadia school (only goes up to 3rd grade). When I checked here to find out more about Indiana school I felt dread coming. But the children, now in 4th grade, special ed and reg classes continue to do well. Their teachers care about what they are learning and struggling with. I admit I was surprised. My son's teacher (special ed) is excellent - my son made the high honor roll (3.8 grade-point average) - my daughter in (regular ed) also made the high honor roll. Although this is a departure from Arcadia school which we loved - Indiana has impressed me so far. Is it more than above average...maybe not...but it is more than I was expected. Band has been great...but they could use more sports programs...like gymnastics! ;)
My son has attended Indiana from 4-6th grade, I believe the administrators, teachers and staff overall have been instrumental in meeting the needs thats conducive to his learning experience.
This school has the best staff and best teachers I have ever seen in a while. I love my son's teacher and wish they had more like her. He made it on the Honor Roll this year and was shock to see that! He wants to learn more and was hurt when he didn't make it the third quarter! I just want my child to learn all he can and try his best when he is in school. We are so thankful for the schools in this community and keep hiring great people. What a great year 2008-2009!!!!! Keep up the hard work!!
My daughter attended Indiana School from 3rd-6th grade. Her experience was great! When she came to the school, she was struggling with math. Indiana's dedicated staff helped my daughter bring her math grades up to grade level. Her teachers nurtured her and willingly accommodated her different learning style. She was able to get the resources she needed in math to help her succeed and, as a result, she was on Honor Roll for the majority of her tenure at Indiana. Indiana's principal and staff are top notch. They encourage the children to do their best everyday and set a solid foundation for their future success. In addition to the strong focus on academic excellence, the principal shares her love of poetry with a morning poem each day. Extra-curricular activities include debate, chess club, band, and chorus. Parents are strongly encouraged to volunteer. Our family had a wonderful experience at Indiana School!
I am still trying to form an opinion. I believe the school is adequate academically and the teachers are experienced. I am not sold on the leadership.
I have a 6th grade student at Indiana school. This is my student's third year at the school and each year the school has experienced more problems. As the curriculum is of quality, the teachers and staff are more focused on the discipline issues that plague the school. The demographic issues that the community is experiencing having a negative affect in the school.
My son has been enrolled in Indiana School for 2 years and our experiences with the school principal and staff have been wonderful. The principal, Mrs. Bowie, has been thoughtful and completely open to dialogue with regard to concerns. The environment in the school is open and inviting.
