Peoria Notre Dame is definitely the best school in the area, the teachers are excellent.

Our oldest child is a freshman, and so far we love Notre Dame! The academic program has got to be one of the most innovative in the state of Illinois. The school runs on trimesters so that it can offer longer class periods. These longer class periods allow more time for writing and critical thinking development. Every student has a Mac book, and the teachers all receive regular training on how to use them in teaching. The school day is also staggered, meaning you might have math 1st period on Monday, but 2nd period on Tuesday. This means that students who need to travel for sports, service, or extracurriculars don't always miss the same class. Everytime we've stopped by the school we've been impressed by how polite and respectful the students are. The school is certainly very sports-oriented as well, but I don't see them sacrificing academics for it. If there is anything I'd change, it's the infrastructure - the school is old, the walls are thin, and it needs a new campus. It is the best high school in central Illinois, certainly in the Peoria area, though the IB program at Richwoods is a great alternative (minus the religious atmosphere that we highly value, of course).

My child, is currently a Junior at this school and it is awesome. The academics are challenging and inovative and there is an abundance of extra-curricular activities. But what really sticks out to me are the awesome teachers. Her teachers are only to happy to go the extra mile and help out. They are concerned first and foremost about their students and the students education and well-being.
