Like many schools, there are parents (and students) who care, and those that do not. That affects test scores, particularly if you are not in a more 'affluent' (end quote) area. However, this school is second-to-none for anyone who wishes to make it so. The admin and teachers are involved, educated, and caring. Great sports programs without letting them get out of hand. Great arts programs. Plenty of ACT scores in the 30's here! My wife and I both attended a more 'affluent' school a bit south of here that used to be a great and perfect-sized school with great results. Now, they have grown too quickly, are too sports-oriented, and are just over-rated, plain and simple. I teach at the community college, and trust me, I see the results! Our children are well-prepared for engineering in college and advanced degrees beyond that if they so wish. The full-deal here.

I have had six kids go through the school system and I can tell you first hand that this is THE best school system around, bar none. I have had problem students and received full cooperation from the educators at this school district. They care, they are receptive to any little or big problem, they are fair, understanding and clearly interested in their students success through their school system and thereafter. The administrative staff too is top notch. As you can imagine, with six kids, the problems ran the gamut of usual kid problems and I was never unhappy with the outcome. I agree with their discipline policy and abide by it. My husband and I are strict, caring parents who want our kids to be, good citizens, product human beings and happy and healthy. This school system continues to be instrumental in all those things for my kids.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Illinois used the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) to test students in grade 11 in reading, math and science. The PSAE is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
