Great school, great teachers. My student is now in Middle School and says he already knows everything they are teaching. 'I learned it at New Milford'. All A's on Honor Roll
AYP is a given. Teachers are equitable. Principal is tolerable.
The school is a decent place, however parents should be aware that the principal is of the mind frame 'my way or the highway.' When calmly questioned about her disciplinary policies, she got up and walked out of a meeting, refusing to discuss matters further. This principal appears to show favoritism among the students and apparently is not very well liked by those who are not in her inner circle. We have heard several similar complaints regarding this principal from other parents whose children also attend or have attended New Milford and also from other students who attend or have attended this school.
My son is presently at this school and loves the teachers and the principal. The overall look at New Milford Elementary is very well. He went to New Milford 3-5 and was on the Honor Roll several quarters out of the years. They take the time to inter-mix with the Parents, and the children. Their education is well maintained here. The class sizes worry me a little, but in the long run have eased my worries. They are in full control of your child at school. I would highly recommend your children to go to this public school. It is a great school.
New Milford School is, in my opinion, one of the best schools I have ever heard of. My son went there for 4th and 5th grade and proceeded to go to Rockford Environmental Science Academy and Jefferson High School for later schooling and at both schools, the students that went to New Milford far out-did all the other area elementary schools' students. I see that test scores have dropped as of late, but as for my son's 5th grade class (1999), they were taught very well.
