i am going to west middle school and i am in the 6th grade. I fell unsafe all the time, i fell like when i do something i will get hurt the teachers are ok but the students are rude to everybody. If you do not mess with anyone then most likely you will not get messed with but, sometimes all u have to do is bump in to someone and they wont to fight are they stupid or something you don't need to fight

im a student currently enroled at west middle school. i feel very unsafe. i would be walking down the hall and someone i dont even know would eather push me of hit me. i try not to fight with people because that would add to the problem. but when you are at a school with so many kids with low respect for others, its so difficult to keep your temper down. i have not had any seriouse problems, but there are a lot of drug and alchohal abuse as well as violence and disrespect. the only thing i can realy say is that the teachers are very polite. but at one point when i tried to transfer schools they would not let me because of where i live. it will be better when i am in 7th grade. dont believe them when they talk about 6th grade beat up day.

I have children at west and am very disappointed with the schools enviorment, how do they expect children to learn if others are so out of control , there is no respect to anyone in or around the building. My children dont even want to attend this year. But do to zoning issues we have to send our children to a school were they feel unsafe !!!! now how is that learning ?????

I'm in the gifted program and its a great learning experience but some of the students have very low respect for the teachers and administrators and it's very disturbing to everyone else who wants to learn.

The students have such low respect for teachers and authorities. Things get to out of hand.

i love the gifted program but sometimes i view the quality of the teachers, extracurricular activities and safety/discipline a little lacking. the administration is doing about all they can but 4 some of the kids at west its just not enough. all thought many students may say the principal is 'bogus' she does what she has to. i just believe its unfair that the good kids (not necessarily all gifted) are stuck with a group of about 50 kids who ruin the environment for everyone else. but overall i do enjoy this school because i am constantly challenged by the curriculum and have made many good friends.

My daughter has been going to West since 6th grade. She is now going in to the 8th grade. I have become very disappointed in the ways of this school. The teachers are never avialable after school and they don't do much to help the students out. All I have to say is I'm happy she only has one last year there!

Many teachers here are unavailable for help before or after school. The Principal is new and very green. She has no control over the teachers, and does not care. Staff and teachers do not return phone calls, and are un-responsive. Gifted Program is the the best RPS 205 has to offer. It is unfortunate the nobody puts the student first.

My daughter has attended West for the Gifted program for 6,7,& 8th grades. This year has been disappointing due to the serious discipline issues and the new principal's attitude. The academics are satisfactory, but I have reservations about a few of the teachers. There have been reports of unprofessional behavior. Also, the building is in disrepair and is an eyesore. My daughter doesn't even use the restroom at school anymore due to the condition of the restrooms and fear for her safety. We are not sending her to Auburn or any public high school next year.
