I transferred my son from a private school in Rockford when we decided to move to the Rockton school district and were shocked that this public school was ahead of the amazing private school we had transferred him from. My son has always been in in advanced classes and was in a pullout gifted program at Rockford Christian. When we enrolled him in 4th grade at Whitman Post his scores we not high enough to enter into the advanced courses. I was frustrated at first and spoke to the principal and teacher about my concern. After one year, my son was able catch up to the other advanced students and barely got into the advanced math class. I have been very pleased with the teachers ability to challenge him when he wasn't in advanced courses. I am also very happy with the prompt communication I have with his teacher since my son is also ADHD he sometimes runs into issues w/homework or social issues with other students. Both the teachers and principal have been a pleasure to work with and I am very pleased we are not spending money on private schooling that isn't keeping pace with this amazing public school!

This is our daughter's first experience at this school in the third grade setting. This is an elementary school, grades 3-5, which is connected to the district's K-2 building. She was prepared well for the transition and adjusted beautifully. The teachers are wonderful, dedicated, and kind. Like the lower level school, the test scores are 'up there', and the communication from school to home is impressive. We especially like the neat incentive programs they have for the kids who behave well. They have many opportunities throughout the school year to attend afterschool miniature golf, swimming, skating, kareoke. So far, I have had ample opportunity to volunteer in the classroom, field trips, and other special functions. There's a high standard of behavior and education for the kids and high parent involvement in this community. I have high standards and this district shines!
