Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I had three children attend St. Colette over a 12 year period. First pre-k through 5th grade I do not believe a parent could ask for better: small classes, caring teachers, and an involved parent community. Your child will learn, and be a part of a caring community. In the grades of 6-8, the school does lack many of the resources available in the public schools. But the core education is still solid, and that is proven by the high performance of St. Colette students in H.S. One of my children had special needs, and had to attend the public system for half of his years (Willow Bend and Central Road), so I was exposed to both systems. For K-8, the focus must be core education, and building strong young identities St. Colette excels in these important tasks.

Not sure who saw what with the principal grabbing a child but that is NUTSO!!! Unless that child was in harms way, she would never do anything of the sort. She is a very dedicate principal, coach, and teacher. My children LOVE this school! The teachers are SO dedicated. The parent involvement EXCELLENT!

The principal is just awful. How her higher ups allow her to treat the children the way she does is beyond me... yelling and screaming while she's teaching, grabbing them by the arm, etc. She should be fired.

St. Colette IS THE MOST AMAZING SCHOOL EVER!! I can't say enough great things about this school. I have help in recruiting efforts! I only sing the praises in the products I most believe in and I believe St. Colette! The teachers are the most hard working, dedicated, compassionate, and they go way above and beyond the call of duty!! My oldest daughter has florished at this school!! My 8 year old has be learned so much and I believe she will go are far thanks to the attention she receives from her teacher! I have one in preschool and her vocabulary has grown by leaps and bounds while she is attending St. Colette. I can't wait to have my baby at St. Colette! I especially love the principal! She is the most caring and compassionate person I have ever met. If you are a highly opinionated person use to be in charge and not working well in teams then yes you will have a hard time with the principal. Otherwise, she does a great job and gives the school so much of herself.

My child is far from graduating, but I'm not looking forward to that day. I'm going to miss this school, especially the teachers, so much! I've only been here a few years, but so far I've liked every teacher-they are great at sending out newsletters, returning calls, responding to emails (even on weekends). 003

The school community is the best aspect of St. Colette. The teachers, staff, and principle really care about the individual growth of each student. The classes themselves grow very close because classmates stay together in each grade. The kids who play with blocks together in kindergarten eventually become lab partners in science classes in 7th grade. The curriculum is standard, with additional classes on Catholicism, Catholic values, tolerance, and world religions. Compared to other schools in the area, St. Colette's mathematics program is not as rigorous. Foreign language courses are introduced into the curriculum at sixth grade, one year earlier than local public schools. This is good, however the rigor of the foreign language program itself is weak. Teachers will provide additional instruction and tutoring to those students who wish to advance above and beyond the national average (or whose parents make such advancement a priority), free of charge. Again, the personal interest in each student is evident, and the success of each student is of highest priority.

I have been here 6 years and I love it ever since. It is the greatest school for every one. I like all the assemblys and funraisings we have at St. Colette. Trackathon and field day are the best activities I like. I look forward in to finish 8th grade. 003

I went to St. Colette for 9-yrs and remember begging my parents to let me go to a pubilc junior high... looking back I'm glad they didn't. Since St. Colette is a smaller school, the teachers were much more attentive to EACH student when compared to the public schools in the area. Here students are forced to get along and work together because of its size and its influence on the community. Today I am an engineer and use teamwork every day. I know that in schools today, bullying is a major issue. I don't believe that is something that can ever be completely done away with (lets face it, kids are mean) but I felt that at St. Colette it was definitely taken very seriously by the staff members. I was definitely disciplined for some of my misconduct toward other students, as I should have been. In addition to being disciplined, good moral behavior was ALWAYS re-enforced and that was important for me in understanding acceptance of anothers differences. Its true that St. Colette is a bit out-dated, but where it lacks in the technological equipment.. it more than makes up for in true desire to educate the students. 003

St. Colette is a phenomenal school. The staff members at St. Colette are dedicated and selfless individuals who truly value quality education and strive on a continual basis to ensure the students achieve excellence. The dedication demonstrated by the teaching staff, day after day, at this school is unparalleled in my experience. I cannot say enough about St. Colette; the teaching staff have played a fundamental role in grooming and refining my child and have been a huge asset in every sense of the word - 003

Great school-fantastic teachers. The building could use updates. They still use old chalkboards and their wall maps are old (USSR is on some) and falling apart. 003

I am a parent with children in the school. The teachers at St. Colette are excellent! Each one gives their "all" to the students. The teachers also attend many parish activities, even though they belong to different parishes. I don't think that my children would get a better education anywhere else. 005

I spent a wonderful 10 years at St. Colette. All the teachers were very hands on with us and very caring. They ensured that we got the most out of our education. The smaller class size helps to develop friendships that will last forever. 006

This school has provided me with the foundation of my education and so much more. The enviroment at St.Colette encourages and supports students. Throughout my eleven years there, I always received the message that I could reach any goal I set. The teachers and staff were always willing to go out of their way and help out to meet my specific needs. When I required a more rigorous math program, the school provided me with a tutor go at a faster rate, free of charge. Because of this enviroment I have done exceedingly well in highschool. While many other students found it daunting to join new clubs or classes, I was confident in being in these situations because of the mentality I gained as a student at St. Colette.

St. Colette School is a "Blue Ribbon" school for a reason...The kids learn! The teachers are fantastic, caring and patient and yes, a bit strict at times. The classroom size allows the teachers to have a great relationship with the students and the parents. Our daughter has been there for 5 years and has learned more than I ever imagined. Her teachers have always been available to help us with all issues we have had. They go to Mass on a weekly basis. Other classes that they take on a regular basis are, P.E., Music, Art, Computer and Library. They have a number of special events allowing the children to show their talents. I can not thank the entire staff enough for all they do for our kids! Go Tigers! 003

St. Colette School is a fantastic school! I had a blast attending the school because all the teachers made me feel special. The part that I admired the most was the math taught there. Because of how much they taught in math, I am in Calculus AB as a senior in high school and I plan on attending the University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign this coming fall for electrical engineering. St. Colette taught me the core values to succeed through life. I have won a couple rewards in high school for the values St. Colette has taught me. 003

While I've never attended St. Colette, I know there are many caring, devoted teachers in there. I wouldn't hesitate to send my child there if I lived in the area, and I'm not even Roman Catholic!

I attended St. Colette from Kindergarten through 8th great, and I'd do it all over again if I had the opportunity. The teachers, principal, and staff are very dedicated to the success of their students. I wouldn't necessarily call them strict, but all the teachers hold students up to a high standard of behavior and prepare students for high school, college, and beyond. In response to someone's review: The teachers are excellent. They really care about each individual student, which is something you don't always get from large/public schools. My graduating class was 25, but I've heard the class size has gone down since then. We went to church once a month and on Holy Days, but we also had prayer services during Advent, Lent, and any other important occasions. -002

St.Colette is a my second home. Everyone i went to school with is always going to be my second family. I still talk to pretty much ll of them. When we get together it's like we were never apart. We all have countless memories there and will never forget then. The teachers are always willing to help with anything and know what's best for each of there students. St.Colette offers so much even tough it's a smaller school, but i think that's what makes it one of the best. Because it's smaller, you and your classmates, teachers, and additional staff really from an unbreakable bond. It isn't like other schools and will always be my second home that I cant go back to for anything! :) -007

Graduated: 2010 I remember my 8th grade class trip so well its scary sometimes. I haven't been out of St. Colette school for a very long time, but I really enjoy how much you know all your school mates, especially your classmates. After a while, it seems just like family because you see the same people over and over again! It seems almost one on one teaching compared to the highschool I go to now. ~005~

What a blessing St. Colette has been to our family. My children are current third generation students at St. Colette!! Both of my parents attended as well as me and my three siblings. I have one son who graduated four years ago and two that are currently enrolled. I love the fact that the schhol is more of a family environment than just a school. The teachers are WONDERFUL, many of whom I had as a student, and some who even attended with my parents, aunts and uncles!! The principal is the best advocate for the children that anybody could ask for and she gives so much of herself to the students and the school. They all teach the every day good values and morals that sometimes seem to get lost. Having my kids a t the school has also brought me back together with some of the former classmates that I had when I went there! I wouldn't change my decision or send my kids anywhere else! (005)

This is a great school! The teachers are fantastic and most have been there for many years. My daughter is always telling me about the different types of projects she has done in class. The school is very clean and the art teacher does a fantastic job decorating the halls with student work. You also can't beat the small class sizes, which isn't so much the case with the ever increasing class sizes in public schools.

St. Colette is a great school. Most of the teachers are fantastic and they work hard with the students. However, the principal is often difficult to deal with. She has been at St. Colette for many years and has learned how to put on a false front with those around her and is a pro at acting like she cares. This school is not capable of dealing with children with disabilities. If your child has special needs, the public schools will provide a much better education. If you child is average or gifted, then this school is a great choice. If you can see past the principal, then this school is for you!

My 3 daughters went to St Colette and they were happy there. It has good teachers, small class sizes and a dedicated principal who knows all the students by name, and who has done a lot to ensure that the school has a wonderful family environment (where the students really care for each other). Work has now taken my family away from IL, but my kids still remember the school fondly.

I have had my daughter in St. Colette since 2004 and she absolutely loves it there. It is a wonderful community and the small class sizes are extremely beneficial to her learning as well as her social development. The teachers at this school are phenomenal!

Wonderful does not even begin to describe St. Colette School. We have been part of the school family since 2004. We switched my daughter from a private school to St. Colette and we never looked back. All the teachers are great, the building is beautiful, and technology is top-notch, and the caring community of teachers and families is wonderful. St. Colette is a great school with teachers who care about all the students!

St. Colette has been a gift to our family. We have three children enrolled at St. Colette. The academic program here is second to none. We live in a community of award winning public schools, and we still choose St. Collette for the academics. We also choose St. Colette for the spiritual training they are receiving. We feel we are rasing future husbands, fathers, wives and mothers. We want them to know how to make the right decisons when life approaches them with difficult and maybe not so difficult situations. The school is headed by a principal who has a never ending committment to the school. We are blessed to have someone who can wear as many hats as she does. We are thankful to St. Colette. Ask yourself how many people feel that way about their children's school.

We love this school! Even after we purchased a home 17 miles away from the school, we still have our son enrolled at St. Colette. The principal is fantastic. She attended St. Colette herself in the 1960's. She brings to true love for education and a passion for the students to her 10-12 hour-a-day job. She knows every or nearly every child by first name. Parental involvement is great, too. Without parental involvement, the school would not be flourishing. Our son and all the other kids are learning proper values -- before political correctness nonsense, there was and is Judeo-Christian values: Respect for yourself and others, discipline, courtesy, accountability, and a proper understanding of our place in the scheme of things i.e. acknowledging that we have a Creator. Former students stop in frequently, too, which wonderful and surprising to me. I have never felt the desire to return to any of my schools,as a rule, just to visit. St. Colette School also excels in scholastics. It is a great school.
