The high school is starting to make some need improvements. I hope it will continue by adding a resource room for students with learning disabilities. Every other school in the area has one. It needs to get with the times. The special education offices received a very nice remodel, but the kids in those services are doing without (including text books). If your child wants to play a sport it's great. Most teams will take as many kids as want to join. The drama department was excellent until the director retired. Now with new direction, it's on the road to recovery. Most of the teachers really care about their students and the administration does a good job of communicating with parents. I'm hoping that average will turn back in to excellent for the district.

The classes and the extra curricular activities offered at Roxana High are some of the greatest around, as long as your willing to put up with other things that aren't so great, such as the staff working in the main office. Phones go unanswered. When answered, a very rude and very frustrating person is on the other line. Very little help is offered unless you are speaking directly with whom you wanted to speak. I wouldn't transfer my child only because of the classes and the sports and other activities. They do require more credits to graduate and I think that's great.

I am not a parent but I was a student at RCHS and I find every day in my career that I learned things in grade school, junior high, and high school at Roxana that other students never learned, even in college or post-graduate school and nearly all of the professionals I work with, including myself, have post-graduate degrees in one or more fields. Based on this alone, I would say that my eduation at Roxana was highly valuable.

Roxana all in all is a good school, but there are a few things wrong with it. When I was going there, they didn't want to help with my diability in reading, and now my niece is getting home schooled because they didn't help with hers. They need to get some more help in there and help these children out, they are our future.
