I took my children out of this school in November due to one of my children's teacher. She was not willing to work with my son who has autism. She kept on insisting 3rd grade was going to be to hard for him. He is a very smart little boy, and I was tired of the put downs by this teacher, as well as no support from the leadership in the school. This school was very good when the other principal was there, but she retired last year. Now the used to be Vice-Principal is in charge and she is a grown-up bully, and does nothing to help parents and their children to succeed. It is all about the test scores and getting their funding. I know of three other families who pulled their children with special needs out as well, due to the problems and lack of help from administration. Until the current pricipal is gone I do not recommend this school AT ALL! We are looking to move off base this summer into a better school district. It's a shame that military families are treated this way considering what our families have to endure with our spouses gone for months or years at a time fighting for our country. Shame on them!

Beware of the administration. They are ruining this school. We have heard wonderful things about New Baden and will be looking at rentals off base.

The Principal is absolutely the poorest leader that I have ever seen. She discourages parental involvement. She is insensitive to the needs of our military children. She is a paranoid, control freak who does not put children first. As much as I love all of the teachers and staff, the principal sets the tone. My children will not be back next year, and I would not recommend this school as long as the current administration is in charge.

While the teachers and support staff are wonderful, I cannot understand why the principal discourages parental involvement and consistently dismisses or ignores concerns. As a school with a high percentage of students whose parents are military, the unique needs of military families are constantly and blatantly disregarded.

I have two children that attend Scott Elementary. I have never felt more unwelcome anywhere in my life as I feel walking into the school. Parents are not encouraged to be involved with their child's education.

The teachers at this school are wonderful, but the principal is a bully. My kids will not attend Scott next year.

The principal and assistant Principal lack basic interpersonal skills, they are rude and will dismiss your concerns. The leadership needs to be replaced with well trained individuals. The handbook is only implemented for certain students, go-figure.

The Principal discourages parents input and I have had many staff members voice their concerns over her poor leadership style and unwillingness to hear suggestions from staff or parents. Personally, she has treated our concerns for pick up/drop off safety as they meant nothing to her. Parents are expected to shut up and color! However, just keep advocating for your child if you end up with this school. There are some really great teachers in this school, and some who lack basic interpersonal communication skills that are needed to deal with military parents who expect at least a basic level of professionalism.

The new Principal ACTIVELY discourages parent involvement. Superintendent opposes "Intestate Compact on Education Opportunity for Military Children". One child's Kindergarten teacher is FABULOUS! Our other son is unorganized. His 2nd grade teacher was wonderful with him and he improved so much. His 3rd grade teacher gave up on him after 2 weeks. We put him in a private school and we couldn't be happier.
