Eastland is a very good school with a few duds but every school has them. It is very 'small town' in that preferencial treatment goes to those who have several generations in the graveyard. You have to live here for at least 10 years to even begin to be considered as a member of the community. Overall it is a good place to raise kids. The honor system really works for Eastland.

Eastland Middle School suffers from a lack of qualified personnal for emotionally, behaviorally, and learning disabled students. Rather than helping them, the preferred goal of the school, seems to be punishment, unusually high numbers of detentions and suspensions, finding placement outside of the district, or home schooling, even though they have some special ed teachers on staff. Repeated attempts to receive services have been rebuked, and I am now forced to leave the district or continue to be stonewalled by the school. The refusal of services is most strongly defended by the principal herself. Many kids have either left the district entirely, or have gone to private or home schooling since she became principal 4 years ago.
