PHS is wonderful! Parents, staff and principal are all so involved. I've loved my time there for the past three years. I'm a little disappointed in the PSA participation, but overall, the schools is as good as it gets.

This is a great school. The staff is very friendly and down to earth. It is a nice, small community school. My kids loved it. If we did not have to relocate they would stil be at this school. Academics are top notch. My kids will be well off at their new school because this school has laid a great foundation for them. I don't really know the new principal but he seems like a nice guy also. They really take time to get to know the students here.

GREAT school! Not only does the principal know the students' names, but the superintendant is always visible and knows the students well too. He even puts on Christmas lights and directs traffic so we can get out of the parking lot in an orderly fashion for the holiday concerts! The PTA is fantastic too - great back-to-school event, plus many throughout the year. I moved to this district for the schools.

The teachers are all wonderful, my child is happy to go to school everyday. The school board is very active in all different kinds of get together's for the students and the parents. I'm 99% sure that the Principal knows every student by the first name of the child and is very active in all school functions. I would recommend this school to any parent.

This school has excellent academics and wonderful teachers that are very supportive in our childrens education. Sad to say the one thing that it is lacking is a sense of diversity both student ratio and staff ratio.

This school is definitely an A+ school. The teachers are up to date with materials, the music department is very supportive to all children. I have had children attending Prairie Hill for 11 years between two children. I have a child in 6th grade now and will have another starting in a couple years and wouldn't think of attending a different school. By choice anyway!!! The teachers, principal, the super, the nurse, counselor and office staff have all been just terrific over the years. I have a child who has ADHD and they had been very helpful and supportive with any and all situations encountered.

Excellent academics- well balanced, offers challenges while ensuring success for students. Art program would benefit from expansion as in the past 3 years while my student attended only basic art classes were offered.

In 2012-2013 Illinois used the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and in grades 4 and 7 in science. The ISAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

In 2013 the Illinois State Board of Education raised the performance expectations for the ISAT in reading and math. These expectations have been adjusted to better align with the Common Core State Standards, a multi-state initiative that established year-by-year guidelines outlining the grade-specific skills and content students need to stay on the path to college and career readiness. The higher expectations of the new standards will result in a downward shift of where students rank in meeting or exceeding standards.
