A high number of the teachers are coaches first, and do not have a real mastery of the subject they are teaching. There is a lack of diversity, not just in the student population, but in available subjects and different viewpoints.
SJO has a great music program with one of the best pep bands in the state and the varsity football team hasn't been defeated so far this season. There is an award winning cheerleading team and dance team as well as an award winning girls softball team that is lead by one of the nations best high school softball coaches. (top 10 in the nation)
