Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

So pleased with the education my son is getting at Divine Providence! He is in preschool and it was our first experience with school and it has been wonderful. His teacher is very dedicated, organized & creative. He is learning so much each day! They offer many options for parents to choose from 3-5 days a week and half or full days, plus they have extended day hours for working parents. The whole early childhood department is outstanding. We will be sending our daughter there next year when she is old enough to start school. Great place to send your kids for quality education and great teachers!

My son attends pre-kindergarten at Divine Providence and I am very pleased with his development. The teachers such as Mrs. Barton in the preschool and Mrs. Scavelli in the pre-kindergarten are patent, caring, and loving. What I like the most is that my son is learning while having fun and becoming more social. Divine Providence has a diverse student population and the class sizes are small (pre-kindergarten 27 kids) which is a plus.

My son attends pre-school at Divine Providence. My husband and I were nervous about enrolling our son in school at such a young age, however now I believe that enrolling my son was a great decision. We are both very pleased with the love and patience that his teacher has shown him. My son is learning his letters and numbers. He comes home daily singing or reciting a new poem that he learned. He is learning how to socialize with other children and adults. He loves going to school everyday. The school staff is also very friendly and very involved. I look forward to the many years that my son will attend this school.

I am an alum of Divine Providence ('95) and currently have a three-year old daughter enrolled in the pre-school program. As an educator myself, I have high expectations for a rigorous curriculum and a positive, effective, pedagogically advanced learning environment. DP delivers on all of the above, exceeding my expectations consistently. In pre-school, the kids cover impressive ground in terms of pre-writing and pre-reading skills, as well as early math and science. In addition, the morals, values, and Catholic fundamentals are taught at this young age: My little one, for instance, already knows the Our Father and various other prayers by heart. The administration highly values innovation, keeping up with (and often leading the pack) on technological advancements; lastly, communication with parents is excellent. On the whole, DP was a great investment in my own education and will doubtless prove to be a great investment in my daughter's as well.

I am very happy with the education and morals my daughter is learning at DP. The school is loaded with new technology that is helping the children learn with new resources. The staff is very helpful and the parents that can volunteer are very active and make the school a better place. Although my job is very demanding which doesn't allow me to volunteer as much as I want to, I know that the parents that can, have my back! I am very happy with DP!

It is a good school great for catholic education. The surroundings are neat, clean and a good environment to learn. The staff, principal and teachers foster learning among the students and are qualified educators. There is a good balance between the academic, sports and outside school activities. There is a diverse student population. there is a great relationship between the educators, the students, the parents and the parish church.

I am very happy with Divine Providence. I have 3 girls - 1 in preschool, 1 in kindergarten and 1 in 2nd grade. I like that the kids interact with each other from all grades. My girls know kids from all the grades. I like that teachers know all the kids, and class sizes are small. There is a lot of parent involvement at DP. It is nice to know families of the children in school.

I am a graduate of this school and currently have my two girls there, one in 1st one in 3rd. I could not be happier with D.P. ! The education my children are receiving is excellent and well rounded. In addition, they seem to be way ahead of their peers at the public school. Having girls, I will forever worry about them fitting in and maintaining a positive self image. At D.P. this does not seem to be a problem! Both of the classes my daughters are in have wonderful parents, everyone encourages their children to be kind and thoughtful towards other kids. Its also nice that all the grades interact, my girls know kids from every grade. The pricnipal has been a Godsend! He has elevated our school to one of distinction, I am proud to say my children attend D.P. The students are constantly being challenged and the resources to assist them are impressive. Lastly, for a catholic school to offer the level of technology D.P. offers is unique. D.P. is a school that is ever evolving with today's academic climate. Do yourself and your child the favor of checking out this truly wonderful and rewarding school!

I have two children at this school and could not be happier. My kids actually look forward to going every day. There is always new ideas being made. Teachers are great and a lot of parent involvement. It's great knowing everyone making a sacrifice has the same goal, giving our children great education.

My daughter is currently enrolled in the full time pre-school program and I must say the teachers are excellent and the afternoon program is top notch with the most caring staff. My daughter is very shy and I have seen her open up and she is more advanced at the age of 3 then most kids, including my older daughter at that age. My daughter was quite not all the way potty trained but the pre-school teacher worked with her and within 2 weeks of school starting she was fully trained!!

I have two children in Divine Providence School. I have no doubts that I made the right decision for my family. The staff in the early education classes are exceptional. I was looking for a school that would not only help them grow socially, but provide the early education that would carry them through grade school. Now that my older child is in 2nd grade, I see that his early enrollment at DP has provided a solid base for the upper grades. I am also very happy with the principal, Jerry Spatara. I know that with his guidance the school will continue to flourish with new technologies, curriculum and a faithful environment. My wife and I have made the choice to pay the tuition each month (as oppose to the free public school). I have yet to cut a DP check and not feel that I am getting my moneys worth. My children are well educated and ready to face the future with confidence. The religious aspect of the school has taught them to have respect and understanding for us, their friends and teachers.

My children have been attending this school since 2005. The current Principal is very involved and proactive about bringing technology and best practices to the school. The language arts program in the primary grades (PK-2nd) is fantastic! My children are above average readers and their penmanship is so neat. I am very happy with the program. The Science lab, Computer lab and classroom technology all enhance their learning too. This school has an Art Fair in the spring. Whoever organizes it is so creative. The projects over the years have been really fun to see. The teachers are caring and easy to contact and work with. My only issue is the cost of tuition. I wish it could be a little lower, but I feel that I am getting value for my money and have no regrets about spending it on education here. The uniform is a definite plus!

My older children have attended the 'other' catholic school in Westchester AND also the public schools in Westchester. So far, Divine Providence has not only met my expectations, but exceeded any goals any parent could hope for!

I have been happy with my choice to have my daughter at DP. Beginning w/kindergarten thru the present, she has matured to a bright young girl w/many goals & dreams. The small size classes add to the personal education the children are receiving. The seemingly heavy amount of homework assigned is the only issue that we have had so far. The staff has always been available when needed.

A very high persent of the students who graduate from D.P. go on directly into their to High School honors programs. Of that percent almost ALL make their high school honor rolls (my neice a 2005 grad was just inducted into the National Honor Society). Kids graduating from D.P. are extremely bright, their high school performance reflects this!. Many of them are doing High School work that they already hsd in 7th and 8th grade!

After doing extensive research of all of the Westchester Schools this school by far exceeds expectations. The education that the students receive prepares them for high school and beyond. The only unfortunate observation that I have made is that there is way to much parent involvement, if you are not in the in crowd you and your children are treated as outcasts. I have only had my children in the school last year and this year and don't feel welcome by the other parents in their classes. I try and volunteer as much as I can but have to work to send my children there and can't do some of the things the other parents do. To many clicks among parents which rubs off on their children and making other children whose parents can't be as involed feel very left out. Unable to socialize you won't feel welcome.

This school has loads of problems. The present principal is doing a poor job. There is a lack of leadership from the top. There are bullying problems running rampant. No one seems to address the problems. There is no science lab at all and a terrible library. There is no teaching of a language at all. The Family School Association is not well attended with only a few parents showing up to each meeting. A handful of parents do all the work. The pastor is not involved at all with the school.

I am a current seventh grader going in to eith grade. I have to say from attending this school since Pre-Kindergarten, I absolutely love this school so much. I will be sad when I graduate because while being a part of a catholic school, I have became a part of the Divine Providence family. I am proud to be a part of this school with a wonderful faculty, many kind students, the amazing academics, and much more. This is the best school ever!

My son is attending DP this year as a Kindergartner. What a fantastic school. Being a stay-at-home mom of two boys (the younger one will attend DP preschool next year), I wanted to get involved in many aspects of the school. I attend the Family School Meetings, am a room mom, and a regular volunteer for school events. I have made a point of getting to know the parents, principal, teachers and rectory staff. I have never questioned my decision to send him to DP. He is being challenged in reading, his writing is neat. He has as firm an understanding in God as a 5 year old can have. I made the right choice. If you have a child in the area, make the time to come and see DP. It has so much to offer your child, and your family.

This school has been a big disappointment. It is probably fine for most kids, but our fifth grader needs accelerated learning opportunities which have not been available. I have seen a big decline this year with the new administration. It has therefore given none of the advantages of a small school, with all of the disadvantages.

As a public school educator I always thought I would send my children to the public schools even though I am a practicing Catholic. On the advice of my older siblings I sent my eldest child to DP and I have yet to regret that decision. The teachers are dedicated, effective, and compassionate people who strongly believe in a rigorous, faith-filled curriculum. My two children, now in first grade and preschool, are not only thriving academically, but socially as well. Both of my children are making friends with their classmates and with others from various grades. As parents, my husband and I have met some amazing people who I believe we be life-long friends. DP provides a family environment not only for the children but for parents too. I have no doubt my children will be highly prepared for high school. I am extremely please with the education at DP.

My child is extremely curious & imaginative. He can also be a handful at times. However, he didn't fit into the teacher's neat little cubbyhole of what she thought a child his age should be like. She insisted that he had a learning disability. We had him independently tested twice, & none was found. He was found to be quite energetic & spirited with rather a creative streak, but no disabilities. The test results were shown to the teacher & principal. Despite that, they still insisted he had problems that they didn't have the resources to handle. We went to another nearby Catholic school instead. We're working with the teachers & principal at that school regarding his progress, & he's doing great now. If you don't fit into DP's narrow vision of what you 'should be', you're unwelcome there. Is that a 'faith filled' school? If so, that's a scary vision.

Sending my children to Divine Providence was an excellent decision. The teaching staff consists of caring and compassionate educators who do a great job in preparing our children for higher education. Graduates of DP are always given recognition for becoming honor students and National Merit Scholars at the high school of their choice.DP combines modern teaching methods with traditional values in order to provide your child with a well balanced education. All children are treated as individuals do to the high teacher/student ratio. You will never regret sending your child to Divine Providence.

Surroundings, structure, academics, discipline that is what Divine Providence provides the children. If I have any questions or concerns I know that I can contact the faculty and get a response by the end of the school day. The teachers dedication to the children is wonderful. I have met more people that have gone to this school and are now sending their kids and even their grandkids. The school has a wonderful before and aftercare for the kids. This is a wonderful asset for all involved. Parents and faculty are involved and really have a geniune concern for the children. The children have gone on to their choice of high schools. The school offers academic and extracurriclar activities that challenge the children. The friendships that my family have made over the years are wonderful and lasting. The academic and social skills taught here second to none. We are a Faith Filled family.

I love this school! I have 2 children who attend and I am more than satisfied with every aspect of the school. The student/teacher ratio is fantastic. The teachers are of the highest quality. My children are excited about learning and they are learning so much. I am consistently amazed by the level and scope of the curriculum. The after-school program is well-run and a wonderful addition. The parents are involved and really care about the school and the children. The principal is available and personable. He has often stopped me just to tell me a story about my son or daughter that I would not have known otherwise. This school is a family and I am so proud that we are part of it.

Divine Providence School inspires excellence, faith, friendship, and community commitment in its students and parents alike. It is a wonderful environment to raise your family in. The teachers are dedicated, not only to fullfilling the academic requirements of their grade, but to helping each child realize their individual gifts and potentials, while never neglecting the social development imperitive in a faith filled community. Our principal greats each student by name every moring at our doors, and sees them off each afternoon. My child has been at DP since pre-school, the best possible foundation for further academic and emotional growth. In todays day and age, to find a group of parents and families so interested in each others well being is a blessing. I now have a network of friends who can be a called upon to help with my children and family and who I would help in the same way.

I am very pleased with my choice for my childs education. Divine Providence has more than reached my expectations as a parent. They provide a challenging curriculum, and some of the finest teachers around. Our children score very high on their standardized tests, and always get into the private high school of their choice. The parents at Divine Providence are also exceptional. They are a close knit group of people that can be counted on. Divine Providence provides so much more than just an excellent education. It provides the 'more than' that we are looking for in Catholic education. I am glad I chose this 'Faith-Filled' community for my child. It is worth every cent and then some.

After my 3-year-old son was in the Pre-School program for 4 weeks, he had an accident in his pants. They called me & I came in 5 minutes to clean him up myself. The Saturday after that happened, the principal called me to tell me to keep my son home until he 'was free from accidents', & strongly implied I wanted the teacher to complete his potty training. A child that age can go weeks or months without an accident, until stressed by a situation or even just 'testing' to see what would happen. Some knowledge of child education & psychology. After that, we withdrew my son & went to Divine Infant School in Westchester (MUCH, MUCH better school). I ended up running into many other parents with stories of examples of DP's terrible administration, including other stories of kids being bullied & the administration unwilling to do anything about it.

If given the chance I would not have sent my children to DP. I think that it was quite possibly the worst decision that my husband and I ever made. The families at the school were not welcoming or helpful. The students harassed my daughter, the staff and administartion did nothing to stop those attacks. It was by the grace of God that my husband got relocated and we were able to get our children out of that horrible atmosphere. My children also did not learn anything, upon moving them to their new schools they were so far behind. If I can give fellow parents any advice it would be to stay away from DP. I hope that no other family has to suffer all the heartache that my family suffered at the hands of the DP parish and school community.

The social atmosphere at this school needs a reasonable amount of help. Otherwise the teachers are wonderful, the school is small and the academics are top quality.
