The teachers and staff at Harrison are wonderful!!! They care about the students, they care about the families. The administration and board of education is another story. The board has been through 5 Superintendent's since my children started at Harrison. The most recent superintendent is the worst so far! Bad point about Harrison is that we are a stepping stone for superintendents, they are writing their resume's at the cost of our children. The current administration does not work well with the teachers. We love our teachers!!!! Parent involvement has dropped in the last 2 years because of the enviroment created by the superintendent!
The staff are excellent, they do a great job with the students and work hard to be sure every child is recognized.
Disagree with disgruntled parent review...school and staff does phenomenal job overall with PreK-8 programming.
This school lacks leadership, always passing the buck, never taking charge to solve problems. Education is not the focus here.
I feel the school lacks leadership. There is no disiplicne in the school. Some of the teachers dont know what is going on. Teachers lose homework all the time
This school has a good parent base. The involvement of parents really help this school excel. The staff in general is good, as with any school, with a few exceptions. The rules could be enforced better but overall the school is a good place for my children to attend. I just hope with the new changes coming the children are not forgotten about and it keeps it's small town connection with the parents.
This is a good school! I go there and it rocks!
Kudos to Harrison! The only district in McHenry County that passed their referendum. A great job by referendum committee, teachers and parents who took time to get this passed.
Harrison, like any other school, has its good and bad points. The school has some 'old school' teachers who probably should retire, many of the teachers are wonderful. The teaching styles of the teachers is diverse so the needs and learning style of just about any child can be matched to a suitable teacher. The school has just taken on a new superintendent and principal (former 3rd grade teacher). As with many schools, our referendum failed and the kids lost the extracurricular activities and library. The teachers have lost their aids, if they had one, and with close to 30 in some rooms they do. It will be an interesting year to see what happens. No matter what, Harrison and its staff have been wonderful for my children.
Harrison school is an adverage elementery school, but it has a lot of areas that it needs inprovement in, such at it's rules an regulations. The limits are too strict and it seems as if something is defringed it is not only the fault of the person or persons who did it, but the whole grade or class of which the guilty person is in. Most of the time, the time and effort is unnecessary also.
