YES!! Go a step further. GET RID OF THE CRAPPY TEACHER!! I have never felt this way until I experienced it. Kindergarte 1st grade are so important for setting expectations for the rest of elementary "First impressions are the most important"

No because it would create conflict. The students and most parents know which teacher is the best, and there would be a fight to try and get that teacher.

Barring conflicts with teacher and parent/student, parents should not have the final say. This gives first-year teachers no chance of being chosen, and how do you honor everyone's request if more parents choose a teacher than there is space for?

If there were any kind of problems the child and teacher were facing then yes the parent should have the final say.
