Should parents be forced to volunteer at their children's school?

You can't force anyone to volunteer.
Once someone is required or 'forced' to do something, it ceases to be volunteering.

No parents should not be forced to volunteer but the parents should take at least one day from work in a school year to go to school for a day and see what is happening in that child's grade and class.

Absolutely, we parents are to busy with our life's that to many of us don't take the time out to help or even see what our children are doing. We wont volunteer unless we have to "SAD".

No, I don't think so. Parents are too busy to be forced to volunteer...esp. if they work. Schools need to find meaningful activities that parents, teachers and students can do together.

thewaynebass you are correct in saying that it's not the gov's job to teach us how to be good parents but they do it anyway. And if you don't do it there way you are a bad parent. Trust me I have been through it.

No they shouldn't. But they also shouldn't complain when they feel the school is lacking in areas where that parent could be helping.

I don't think anyone should be forced to do anything, when volunteering time there should be joy in what you are doing this is why you "volunteer". When someone is forced attitude may show and who wants bad attitude around children? I don't!

I don't think a parent should be forced to volunteer but if a parent wants to be involved with their kids they need to do their part.
