Only if the appropriate resources will be provided if needed-i.e. Transportation, Time off work, etc. As much as I beleive in volunteering with the children, there can be extenuating circumstances that make this incredibly difficult for some families

yes, and the state should help them. There is no better way to see what is happening than to stand in the room and watch it over the course of the year

(point of view:student) No, my parents are very emberassing! Either way, they could but don't force. Parents don't have time, plus it would be too much volunteers! Some would do work others would jus lay around.

As I stated previously, its not the governments job to teach us how to be good parents. And, besides some families can't afford to take off work even if it is mandated by the state. The bills still keep coming in.

My child's school requires each family to do 3 hours a month. I though it was too much, but they provide free quality education. At first I resented volunteering, but I grew to love it. If you can find the time, it is very rewarding work.

Of course not! That would be ridiculous to force parents to volunteer. At my daughter's school there are always enough parents that volunteer, but some parents just can't take time off for various reasons.

I think it is every parent's responsiblity to volunteer, at some point, at their child's school. Teachers always need a little extra assistance. You're children will see that you donated your time, which in return is teaching them a life lesson. ;)
