I am not sure where around Tampa I will end up but need assistance in finding a good public school.I haven't had much success dealing with the schools here in OHIO. They would rather fail him then try to deal with the reasons that cause him to fail, mostly forgetting to turn homework in and forgetting to bring things home. He has no organization skills and they just expect him to gain them all of a sudden. I took him out and homeschooled him for a year and a half. Had to put him back in this year regretably. I know he has to get used to the routine the only problem is the school won't give him that time. I hope I can find a school there more willing to deal and help him become successful. And improve his self esteem.

Did you find a school for your son? I'm dealing with these same problems now. My daughter goes to Pride Elementary in Tampa but I'm looking for a better fitted school for her ADHD needs. Pride is great for students that excell and don't have disabilities.

Finding the right school for your son is something you will have to ultimately decide. Every parent has a different opinion. I just moved to Fl and didn't like my zoned school so I sent them to charter. In Florida, if you do not like the school your kid is in you have the option to send them to a different public school of choice or can apply to charter. When you get settled just contact your local school board for information. Tampa has many great options. Good luck and welcome to Florida! Your going to love it here!
