My daughter advised me that this past school year that her teach was busy texting on her cell phone rather than teaching the class. I was very upset! How should I have handled this? She begged me not to say anything. Her fellow classmates that come over our house, also confirmed this statement.

At the next "principal's chat" or PTA meeting, ask directly what the policy is for texting in class for students *and* staff.

I wouldn't mind a teacher texting occasionally, given that you might not know the entire situation, but if it was a regular occurrence that took away from class time, I would take issue.

Always ask the principal about it. Or at least have a conference with the teacher to ask her to turn the phone on vibrate or when the end of the day comes then she can check the messages.
