My son Just started, Hoping for a good year. So far seem great. The principle is always around the school interacting with the children, The teachers are activly involved with the children and takes time out to get to know them as individuals.

This is truly an excellent school. Very well structured and good discipline with the cadets.

This is my childrens first year at APA and I have to agree that it is a very structured school for the most part. However, I feel that there should be better communication among the school staff. On 1 occasion my child had forgotten his lunch in the car and I returned it to the office with the needed info by 8a.m. The problem....he didn't get it till the end of the day and his friends chose to share their lunch with him during his reg lunch time. On 1 other occasion, the parent was called to pick up the child and when the parent arrived the peope in the office knew nothing about it until a teacher came walking down the hall with the cadet.

Although the kids are well behaved - because they have to (military) there is no communication between you and the school or teachers even when you repeatedly attempt to email and call them. Very poor school if you want to be an involved parent. Teachers are too demanding on the kids with little to no direction and again no coorespondence with the parent where the student is at an how to help them improve.

APA Is an excellent school! The staff and administration are outstanding! I have two students currently attending middle school and high school, and I am very pleased with their progress. A strong, college-prep curriculum, and an emphasis on honor and character make APA a great learning environment. There is genuine concern for the safety and success of the students. I highly recommend this school!

No messing around here! Zero tolerance for troubled students! No bullies, drugs, or misbehaved students allowed! Strictly for those who want to achieve high standards. Excellent college prep program. Only for those who are willing to show respect to all other students and staff. I've never seen another school curriculum designed so efficiently to assist students in succeeding, and reaching goals. The staff are more than willing to assist students with achieving excellence! Staff are truly there for the students, and take thier teachings skills to a level I've never witnessed. The moto at APA is 'Where Excellence Is Expected'. Best school I've ever known!!!

About the tests

Indiana uses the A through F School Grading System to assess the overall performance of a school. In addition, high schools were graded on four-year (on-time) graduation rates and college and career readiness indicators including Advanced Placment exam results and industry certification exam results.

average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state. Growth and college readiness ratings are coming soon, pending publication of 2012 data.
