I went to bainbridge and north put schools and my kids go there now,I have never had a probelm with the school,I've had issues with the bus driver, but my son loves his teacher and all of you that are saying how bad it is my son got held back at his other school and they said he was doing horrible, basically, and now just from this year my son is the best in the class and doing awesome..he feels cared for and his teacher is very nice to him, just because you think its noisy doesnt make it a bad school, its what's gettin taught in the classroom that matters.
Bullying is not taken seriously. There is zero follow up with parents on anything. Transportation to and from on the buses, is long, grueling and wild. Parents are not taken seriously on issue that concern them.I am often payed lip service to go away.
This elementary school is pretty good, but I'm not sure if I would recommend it to somebody. There is ALOT of favoritism for students whose parents are in the school system.
they are very good with students
School definitely needs a new principle. Dean Cook does not seem to think that parents should be informed of the educational needs of the children. He does not seem to have the needed respect from parents to become a 4-Star School. There is no communication from the teachers or the principle until it is too late. The only time communication does occur is when the parent calls demanding to talk to the principle or teacher. After establishing expectations, the teachers will usually e-mail or call frequently to provide updates. Bainbridge Elementary seems to be more focused on accessessing Title 1 grants than it does on encouraging children to learn and grow with their education. There is no 'thinking outside of the box'. If I could move to another school district, I would definitely move. Thankfully, the N. Putnam Junior High is much better!!
I think that those of you who are making all of these negative comments need to take a step back and think about what you are saying, My husband and I are two highly educated individuals who had a child in kindergarten last year and the teacher was great, the parent involvment was great and the noise?? Its an elementary school for crying out loud.
I don't think that bainbridge elementary cares about their kids. THe school is loud, like you said. And my daughter was having trouble in school, my husband talked to the principle and teacher and they seemed like they didn't care. I am very displeased with this school. It is a disappointment.
I, too, feel that parental involvement is not encouraged. After moving from another school district where I was involved every year by volunteering in my child's class, this has been difficult. I don't feel connected, and the communication is not great. I agree about the noise level, especially in the lunch room. Again, compared to the previous experience, it is much different. I am pleased with the class size and school size. The extra curricular activities have been very enjoyable. I have not gotten involved in the 'political' side of the sports that I have heard so much about.
the north putnam school system continues to impress me with its emphasis on, and continued support of, the arts despite necessary budget cuts and the current economy. it seems as other schools in putnam county are getting rid of their arts and music programs in part or entirely, north putnam is finding ways to expand their progroms. art programs make for healthy, happy, and expressive kids. keep up the good work!
There are some good teachers at Bainbridge, but the majority seem to discourage parental involvement. It is also the loudest school that I have ever been in--the tone and the volume. I wish there was as much focus on academics as there is on football. I think that the poor leadership is a major factor in the growing number of home-schooled children in this area.
