This is our first year at North Knox Primary Elementary. I am not impressed at all. The school has an open concept classroom. It is very distracting to our child. He can hear everything the other teachers are saying since the rooms are not private. They spent money on Smartboards without doing any research as to their effectiveness. On one of he letters sent home the Principal stated "we purchased the Smartboards, but don't know how effective they are yet". It would make sense to do research on a product before spending money on it one would think. If they want to spend money on something why not spend it on literacy books. In the first quarter our son has brought home the same books three times. They just cycle through them. Or possibly fully fencing in the playground area, as opposed to having a fence but with open areas where questionable individuals can just walk in. Seriously considering home schooling until we get out of here. Would not recommend this school system at all.
My daughter goes to North Knox Central and I really enjoy her teachers and the Principal Mr. Sloan..She is learning alot and the teachers are willing to help in any way that they can to benifit your child.
School is in a own that doesn;t have much I believe they have a few good people who try but not enouh effort is made by enough people. The teachers are rude for the most part and the principal has his moments of kindness. Their is a new first grade teacher that is very sweet . We just hope she doesn.t become jaded like the others.
This is a very low income area and that is exactly the way they treat the children. They spent thousands of dollars on a security system that doesn't help at all you push a button and they let anyone in. They offer nothing extra for the kids, not even a Christmas program . Most of the teachers are rude and have that I don't care attitude and the principal is even worse. If I could rank this school a zero I would.
I am very upset with this school. Not alot of after school programs. ONly programs for the children that need extra attention. But no challenge courses. Very poverty stricken school. Not a christmas program this year and that's the entire NK school corp.
