I am sadly disappointed in UES. Our son has attended since K, now grade 3, and we are trying to get a transfer. If you don't mind the NO TALKING rule in the cafeteria (yes, the little kids actually have to READ the WHOLE time, no socialization, just robots) then you're nuts. Worse still was the lack of leadership when our son was bullied over and over at school. The Administration denied our requests to get the bullies parents involved until it had gone too far and we were no longer willing to work with the Administration. Test scores may say it's a good school but I assure you they are misleading.
Teachers do not care about students, only test results are important. The principal is never willing to help or even listen to patents' concerns
I love my school so,so much!!!!!!Which of course i'm talking about University Elementary School.Du.Everything is great there, except maybe the bathrooms, spicily the boys bathrooms.Like one of the things are boys not flushing when they are done using it,and also sometimes they don't wash there hands.
Exceptional team using wisely limited resources. Committed parents
Fantastic teachers who take great interest in meeting the needs of all their students. Wonderful diversity in students, many multi-national. Principal is extremely devoted to school as well as parents involved in PTO. First Rate!
UES is a great school with a diverse student body and caring, dedicated teachers committed to excellence in the classroom. We transferred our daughter out of private school to attend UES due to the higher academic standards at this school. The principal runs a tight ship, kids are quiet and orderly in the halls, class rooms are warm and colorful. Parent involvement is high. My daughter LOVES UES and we are very happy with her progress here.
This is a fabulous school. My children are being challenged academically with absolutely no bullying or other interpersonal issues with other students or teachers for the years they have attended. It is very diverse ethnically which is a huge plus for our family. No one is treated as 'strange' or 'different' because of their ethnic, religious, or cultural background. The focus in this school is where it should be: on education.
Exceptional teachers and highly supportive parents dedicated to education and learning that does not stop at the bell. Proper support for academically gifted children.
The school is not parent friendly. The principal is clearly most concerned with test scores and does not encourage growth and care of the whole child. We felt discipline and teacher involvement with interpersonal issues to be poor. We gave it an average rating as the general academics is average. My children previously loved school and found their teachers to be no more than cold.
The children here have a wonderful opportunity to be in a school that is so ethnically diverse. Parents, teachers, and staff work together to make this school work well for the children.
