My son began Brown in the 2nd grade. We have been nothing but pleased. He is now in 8th grade and in high ability classes at West Middle. My daughter began kindergarten at Brown this year. She is already reading and is off the charts on the standards tests. I atrribute this to the teachers and wonderful support. I email with her teacher frequently to keep in touch. Both of my kids absolutely love Brown, as do my husband and I. We have a new principal this year and she is all about the kids. The PSG is wonderful and allows parents to be very active in the children's learning.
Brown Elementary was "home" for my daughter and myself for many years! My daughter who is now in 6th grade and at middle school attended brown since K (6 yrs) and I actively participated in PSG and in the classroom as a volunteer. Currently I work pt at the school and can tell you that I've never seen a principal like the current principal who is as dedicated to the students and who listens to parents and takes their feedback to heart and makes changes after reviewing that feedback! I know my daughter was always safe at brown and is a very responsible child who did (and still is) amazing academically and socially ! I highly recommend Brown!
I have been at this elementary for over 6 years and while things are not perfect, I believe that the teachers are excellent and want for my children to succeed. The administration has changed two times since I have been there, and the current administration (new this year) is WONDERFUL! There are many ways parents can be involved in their child's education. All the teachers that I have had personal contact with were engaging and challenged my children to exceed.
School has very rude staff, 0 communication skills. Aids yell at students for "talking during lunch", I am very disappointed with the lack of respect shown to students and parents. I feel previous post must have been dreamed up by staff, none of the parents I have talked with are happy with this school.
The teachers are all wonderful. School is clean and safe. Staff is very friendly and this is a school that keeps parents well informed of what is going on with the school and students.
This is a top notch school. We have not had a bad teacher. The specials (art, music, PE, library, Spanish) are enriching and interesting. There is a high level of academic performance and at the same time, a feeling of small town friendliness and warmth. My kids have all felt acceptance and honest friendship with their teachers.
