We moved to Carmel, IN hearing over and over how wonderful the schools are here. I am underwhelmed. For how small the school is in terms of student body it is chaotic, not extremely attentive to students from my parental vantage point and either my child was unlucky enough to have an emotionally bereft teacher or that is school standard to teach to the book not the child nor be concerned with their emotional growth. Just make sure they consistently achieve high scores on standardized tests to keep up their "good rating".
Woodbrook is still the top elementary school in the state's top school system. The teachers are fantastic, and the parents are *very* involved in the school. Mr. Akin is retiring at the end of this year, and I trust that the new principal will maintain the extremely high standards we have come to expect of Woodbrook.
A great school with great teachers and an awesome principal, Mr. Akin. School has finished first or second in the state in ISTEP scores, state wide test, the last 5 years. Caring and nurturing school, teachers and support staff:) This is the school for elementary students.
