am a single mother with a nine year old son who has ADD and the teacher at this school is so great. I am recommending her for teacher of the year. my son doesn't talk to much and this teacher (special ED) has communication device so he can talk and learn in the classroom. she also teaching him sign language so he can communicate and learn as well in the classroom and so he will talk more. it is working my son is saying more words and he is learning how to read. the pricinpal and staff our very nice and terrfic as well. I wasn't so sure at first about the school but now since he has been here for almost a year I know this is best school for my son. I would highly recommend this school for any parent and my son got student of the month which was a pleaseant surprise. thanks mcarthur my son just loves this school and he looks forward to going to school everyday!!!

I have one son at MacArthur and another who went all the way through and is now at Taft and I can not say anything bad about the school.Ms. Buchko is an awesome principal and the staff is great too. The school does lack parental involvement.

I attended macarthur and now I have 2 kids going there. I couldn't be happier with every aspect of is school. The principal is the standard by which all principal's should measure up to. Teachers fantastic. I just wish there was more parent involvement was better. I don't know what else they can do to make parents get involved. alumni class of 1973

School does not work well with children who have ADHD. There is no special procedure so that they can retain attention. Was told simply to put him on medicine. Moving to get child into better school.

I want to say that I think Macarthur is a five star school. I have three children two are still in macarthur and one is in taft. My son was .ready for middle school academically because he had the best possible education to prepare him for middle school. My daughters attend macarthur and I am amazed at what they are learning for their grade levels every day. The staff at macarthur is incredible, the teachers are the best and our principle is amazing. She is the only principle that I have ever heard of that each student by name. The students and staff at Macarthur are very fortunate to have her. Education in our sxhool system is more difficult than other area schools, but our students do not struggle to learn because we have the best staff of teachers in the state.

MacArthur is a wonderful elementary school, once you get through the confusing, unorganized kindergarten program. The teachers and staff care about each and every student and it shows in the # of honor roll students!

My son went to Kindergarten at MacArthur last year. He had a great experience, but I think the organization skills of the teacher he had were not up to par. The communication folder that was in his backpack should have been updated daily, and the instructions for homework, events, etc. should have been given in a timely manner and been easily understandable. Many times I had to call other parents to figure out where his teacher was 'coming from.' Other than that, the MacArthur first year experience was a great one. My son is anxious to start 1st Grade at MacArthur.
